Job Title: Associate Scientist
Location: Fort Worth, TX
As an Associate Scientist supporting our R&D Surgical Evaluations team in Fort Worth, Texas, you will be trusted to work on scientific research and laboratory management. In this role, a typical day will include:
Managing the safety, surgical supplies, chemical substances, equipment lifecycle (purchasing, qualification, calibration, repair, disposition) for R&D labs
Managing logistics for R&D studies internally and externally
Prepping animal and/or human tissue and assisting the surgeon
Propagating and maintaining in vitro mammalian cell cultures
Conducting cell/tissue culture assays
WHAT YOU'LL BRING TO ALCON:
Key Requirements/Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree or Equivalent years of directly related experience (or high school +8 yrs;Assoc.+4 yrs)
The ability to fluently read, write, understand, and communicate in English.
Work hours: Standard Working Hours
Travel Requirements: 10% to 15% (domestic and international)

Preferred Qualifications/Skills/Experience:
2+ years of full time academic or industry laboratory experience in general laboratory maintenance
Detail oriented and well organized
Highly motivated self-starter and problem-solver with a demonstrated ability to adapt quickly and work independently, being flexible with assigned tasks
Familiar with ocular surgery procedure and surgical equipment
Good understanding and practice of GxP
Good knowledge in ophthalmology, biology, biostatistics, or related fields
Previous training and hands-on experience with in vivo and ex vivo study
