The Strategy team is one of nine Global Business Partners (GBP’s) that support the Executive Board and all of the Business Areas (BA’s) in developing and executing Group, Business Area and Business Unit strategies. The strategy team ensures the long-term value creation capacity of the Bauer Media Group is maximised by partnering with the executive leadership teams at all levels of the Group to drive the strategic agenda, ensuring clear, optimised and implementable strategies are set and delivered on across all of our businesses.
As an Associate in the Group Strategy team you will support the development and implementation of the Group corporate strategy and the Business Area / Business Units strategies. This will include reviewing the Group’s strategic positioning and portfolio, as well as the analysis and evaluation of markets and existing businesses, assessment of new business ideas and models from a strategic and economic perspective, investment goals and strategic partnerships. You will work alongside the other members of the Strategy GBP, the Executive Board, other GBP’s and the Business Area and Unit management. You will lead research and analysis across a broad range of topics and initiatives. You will have the opportunity to learn about strategy development in an international media company that operates in over 10 different countries and across four different industries.
Your Tasks
As part of the Group Strategy GBP you will:
Conduct research and prepare relevant market, trend and competitor analysis for a range of stakeholders – in particular the Executive Board and Business Area management
Contribute to the development of corporate and business area strategies as part of cross-functional teams
Facilitate informed and analytically supported strategic decision making at both the Group (i.e. Executive Board) and the Business level
Independently lead and drive specific topic areas, including the Market Intelligence Hub where cross-group market data, analysis and insights are prepared and shared across the Group
Alongside the specific projects that you lead / support, you will be an active participant in the Strategy team:
Contributing to team meetings, developing the strategic agenda and other initiatives
Sharing strategic insights and market developments to ensure the team remains informed and can develop relevant insights
Engaging with the wider Strategy team across our businesses and other stakeholders to develop a best-in-class strategy development and review process
You will work on multiple projects at the same time and need to be able to:
Manage competing demands on your time and to effectively prioritise

Your Profile
Strong analytical and numerical skills
Experience analysing and assessing business opportunities, and recommending the optimal choice between competing alternatives
Ability to complete analysis and market research that delivers insights into and builds an understanding of the attractiveness of markets, alternative business models, competitor strategies and strategic options
Excellent English communication and presentation skills
Clear and concise written communication skills that clearly analyse complex problems and alternative solutions, both in Word and PowerPoint
Confident communicating in person to the full range of potential stakeholders, from Executive Board members to more junior members of the GBP’s or BA / BU’s
Good people skills
Ability to work effectively within and to lead a team of diverse people from different parts of the business
Ability to build strong interpersonal relationships
High level of initiative and commitment
Proficient in using Excel and PowerPoint
Preferably fluent German
Knowledge of and experience in the Media Industry a definite advantage
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree, preferably in a relevant subject, completed to an excellent level
Ability to travel, particularly within Europe
