Associate Talent Specialist

Morgan, Lewis & Bockius LLP, one of the world’s leading global law firms with offices in strategic hubs of commerce, law, and government across North America, Asia, Europe, and the Middle East, is seeking to hire an Associate Talent Specialist. Reporting to the Senior Director of Associate Talent, this position provides strategic leadership to the Associate Talent Team, managing development, coordination, and implementation of firmwide associate talent programs. This position can reside in our Boston, Los Angeles, New York, Philadelphia, or Washington, D.C. office with a hybrid in-office/remote working schedule.

A highly collaborative, self-starter, natural relationship builder and people-person, the Associate Talent Specialist plays a key role in working with firm leadership and the Associate Talent Team on firmwide initiatives to advance our commitment to making Morgan Lewis a destination firm for exceptional associate talent.
Key responsibilities include:
  • Recommends, develops, and implements strategic associate engagement and retention programs including, connection opportunities, networking and mentorship programs, and career development opportunities.
  • Collaborates with the Diversity & Inclusion, Professional Development, Recruiting and Coaching teams to recommend and develop dynamic associate training programs and talent acquisition and development initiatives.
  • Maintains expertise for the firm through research and market intelligence to support and create innovative talent management programming.
  • In collaboration with marketing and public relations, develops associate talent branding including communications, social media campaigns, and web content.
  • Prepares reports and communications for the Senior Director of Associate Talent and firm management related to associate talent key performance indicators, including analyzing associate attrition and retention data.
  • Regularly drafts communications and prepares presentations in conjunction with surveys, associate trainings, and retention initiatives.
  • Along with the Senior Director, serves as primary liaison to the Firmwide Global Committee on Associates, working with members to develop strategic priorities, goals, and objectives for the committee.
  • Works closely with Human Resources to prepare annual budget, trainings, communications, and firm management reports related to the annual non-partner lawyer year-end evaluation and compensation process.
  • Collaborates with Human Resources and practice groups to help manage talent and succession plan.
  • Works cross-functionally to make enhancements to associate onboarding, orientation, and outplacement.
  • Manages firmwide market survey administration strategy and works with external publications to elevate firm brand and reputation.
  • Provides direction to the Associate Talent Coordinator and Assistant.
Experience and Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree and minimum of 5 years of relevant talent management experience in a professional services firm, or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong written and oral communications skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build relationships with a wide range of individuals with differing opinions and diverse personalities.
  • A self-starter with the ability to pivot, manage simultaneous priorities, and work autonomously.
  • Ability to work effective cross-offices and cross-functions.
  • Commitment to exceptional client service and dedication to high-quality work.
  • Project management, time management and organizational skills to prioritize work and handle multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced, constantly evolving environment.
  • Ability to take initiative, anticipate needs, and exercise independent, sound judgment.
  • Discretion in dealing with confidential information.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and ability to adapt to new software programs.
  • Flexibility to work overtime and willingness to travel as needed.

For positions in New York, NY, the salary range for this job posting is: $71,815.00 - $114,904.00
For positions in Los Angeles, CA, the salary range for this job posting is: $66,070.00 - $105,712.00
The base salary or hourly wage range for this position will be determined during the interview process and will vary based on multiple factors, including but not limited to prior experience, relevant expertise, current business needs, and market factors. The final salary or hourly wages offered may be outside of this range based on other reasons and individual circumstances. Additionally, salary or hourly wages may be only part of the total compensation package. The total compensation package for this position may also include a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave), dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment. If hired, the employee will be in an "at-will position" and the firm reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation or benefit program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, firm or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
