Reporting to the University Librarian, the Associate University Librarian for Library Access and Collection Management serves as a member of the Library Leadership Group (LLG) and is responsible for implementing inclusive and transformative policies and strategies for the optimal utilization of library spaces and services. 1. Manage and participate in short- and long-term planning for Library functions, spaces, and teams
- Cooperate and coordinate projects and planning with Library Leadership Group (LLG) and other Library and Technology Services (LTS) Managers and Directors
- Administer and establish service standards and performance benchmarks for Library Access Services
- Create team goals in coordination with Library, LTS priorities, and University Strategic plan
- Implement, recommend, and interpret library patron-facing policies and procedures
- Appraise outsourced vendor services regularly
- Review and measure the quality of outsourced services
- Organize and assist with RFP processes when necessary
2. Direct and coordinate activities of two teams, Library Technical Services team and Lending Services team
- Create and communicate a vision for Library Access Services
- Review work processes and re-balance responsibilities of staff according to Library and LTS priorities
- Resolve library service problems and any other library user concerns
- Collaborate with library senior leadership to coordinate, plan, and prioritize projects and delegate responsibilities for projects
- Facilitate and organize meetings with teams and team leaders and coordinate meetings with other library teams as necessary
- Prepare monthly and annual activity reports to inform other directors in the Library about activities in Library Access Services
- Evaluate performance of team leaders and provide assistance with staff concerns and staff performance issues
- Recommend salary raises and merit allocations
- Administer recruitment process of new library staff
3. Direct and monitor fiscal budgets for Library Access Services and collections
- Coordinate and assist with preparing and finalizing budgets for the fiscal year with Library leadership and LTS Directors
- Assist with estimating and reviewing budget expenditures with vendors
- As a member of the Collections Development Executive Committee (CDExec), monitor, analyze, and report on collections budgets throughout the fiscal year
- Serve as primary contact for collections and facilities vendors about fiscal issues and expenditures
- Plan project budgets for new initiatives and projects related to Library Access Services
- Prioritize expenditures throughout the fiscal year
- Coordinate submitting annual IPEDS, and insurance data, to relevant University bodies
- Coordinate and maintain life cycle replacements for furniture and computing equipment
4. Implement and recommend cross-institutional strategic directions and operations in Partnership for Academic Library Collaboration & Innovation (PALCI), Lehigh Valley Association of Independent Colleges (LVAIC), and other regional and national consortia
- Analyzes network-level needs in services, spaces, operations, and staffing
- Explores and recommends projects and collaborations that reduce service and space redundancies which are cost and resource beneficial to Lehigh University and the network
- Maintains awareness of relevant issues and trends impacting network-level work and member institutions
- Communicates plans, policies, and procedures to staff and stakeholders
- In collaboration with stakeholders, recruits, supervises, mentors, and evaluates staff
5. Develop and administer a professional development plan for Library Access teams
- Ensure access services managers and staff have sufficient opportunities to develop and update skills through regularly scheduled training sessions, campus workshops, and similar continuing education programs
- Monitor and distribute travel and training budgets to all staff in Library Access Services
- Organize and help coordinate regular team meetings for the purpose of sharing information learned at training workshops and/or to share skills, software, or technologies that could help other staff or that could improve work processes
- Support staff's professional activities and share Lehigh Libraries' accomplishments through regional, national, and/or international presentations and publications

Qualifications
ALA-accredited Master’s Degree in Library or Information Science; Doctorate Degree is preferred
Minimum of 7-10 years of management/supervisory experience in progressively more responsible positions
In-depth knowledge of library automation and advanced operational expertise in one or more of the Access or Technical Services areas
Demonstrated success in managing others, including the ability to lead and engage diverse staff through the process of organizational improvement and change
Experience in budget preparation and financial management and in developing and evaluating library services
Proven record of project management and cross-organizational coordination of tasks and goals
Proven record of strategic and operational collaboration
Demonstrated problem-solving ability and ability to prioritize multiple projects and demands
Effective oral and written communication skills; well-developed assessment and analytical skills
Successful completion of standard background checks including but not limited to: social security verification, education verification, national criminal background checks, motor vehicle checks, PATCH, FBI fingerprinting, Child Abuse Clearance and credit history based upon the requirements of the position
