Asst Dir – Software Engineer (Data Engineer)

The Know Your Customers (KYC) unit at Moody’s Analytics is dedicated to leveraging data-driven insights and cutting-edge technologies to drive the compliance and Anti-Money Laundering (AML) industry forward. We are currently seeking a Data Engineer to join our dynamic and motivated Data Strategy team. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in data engineering concepts and a passion for working with cutting-edge technologies while ensuring clean, usable data is democratized to the business.The Work:

  • Develop and maintain product-specific data pipelines to ensure the timely and accurate flow of data from various sources to our Databricks Lakehouse platform.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders, including KYC/AML experts, to understand their data needs, deliver automation solutions, and build efficient data pipelines to support data access and analysis.

  • Gain a deep understanding of data usage patterns and requirements within the organization to design and implement appropriate data models in the data warehouse, ensuring compliance with industry regulations.

  • Utilize AWS services to manage, store, and process data, ensuring optimal performance, security, and scalability while adhering to data protection standards.

  • Leverage workflow management tools, such as Prefect or Airflow, to orchestrate and monitor data pipelines, ensuring seamless integration, data quality, and compliance with regulatory requirements.

  • Implement data transformation and validation processes using dbt and SQL to ensure data accuracy, consistency, and regulatory compliance across the organization.

  • Continuously monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize data pipelines to ensure data reliability, performance, and adherence to best practices and industry regulations

  • Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and regulatory changes to ensure the company remains at the forefront of data engineering best practices in the compliance and AML space.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.

  • Strong understanding of data engineering concepts, including data modeling, ETL processes, and data warehousing

  • Familiarity with the core technology stack, including Databricks Lakehouse (Delta Lake) or equivalent such as BigQuery/Snowflake, SQL/Python/Spark, AWS, Prefect/Airflow, dbt

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.

  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with stakeholders at various levels within the organization and communicate complex data concepts to non-technical audiences.

  • Eagerness to learn and adapt to new technologies.

For US-based roles only: the anticipated hiring base salary range for this position is $ [123,800] to $ [179,600], depending on factors such as experience, education, level, skills, and location. This range is based on a full-time position. In addition to base salary, this role is eligible for incentive compensation. Moody’s also offers a competitive benefits package, including not but limited to medical, dental, vision, parental leave, paid time off, a 401(k) plan with employee and company contribution opportunities, life, disability, and accident insurance, a discounted employee stock purchase plan, and tuition reimbursement.
