Assistant Manager Single Student Residence Life
- Placement locations for new hires will be determined by management.
Job Summary:
To advise and facilitate the development of residents and staff members in accordance with the Residence Life mission statement, educational outcomes and the aims of a BYU education. Also, assist in the supervision and coordination of the business operations of Single Student Residence Life.
Essential Functions:
RHA – Activity Council
- Select and train a Student Coordinator for each area
- Select and train Students to serve on the Council
- Advise an Area Council
- Approve all activities planned by the councils
- Track and document all expenditures by the councils
- Keep an inventory of all council supplies
- Co-teach council classes
- Attend activities planned by councils or assign a full-time staff member to attend
Provides administrative assistance to the Manager
- Help with strategic planning of Residence Life (focusing efforts to meet the mission of the University and Residence Life)
- Conduct staff meetings
- Conduct one on one meetings with hall advisors
- Facilitate team discussions (be a team leader)
- Help with the development of assessment tools that will evaluate the outcomes of efforts made to meet the mission of the University and Residence Life
- Assists with assigned projects
- Assists the Manager with extensive interviewing and selection of Hall Advisors
- Help coordinate the upkeep and maintenance of the facilities
- Work with disciplinary concerns
- Assist in the training of Hall Advisors, Resident Assistants and part-time staff members
- Help improve area processes to better meet student and staff needs
- Other assignments as assigned
Supervise the Safety and Security program
- Keep the Guard 1 security system operating.
- Follow through on incidents and work orders listed in reports.
- Have a safety program for residents in the halls.
- Keep track of smoke detector reports, fire drill reports, and student safety signature forms.
- Schedule and train staff on fire safety and fire drill procedures.
Summer Conferences
- Assist with the selection and hiring of Conferences Assistants
- Assist with projects and scheduling for conferences
- Assist with the training and mentoring of conference staff
- Assist with the damage collection process
- Assist with strategic planning of conferences
- Assist with coverage and behavioral concerns
Financial Accountabilities
- Tracking and documenting Purchase Card usage.
- Tracking and documenting Signature Card expenditures.
- Tracking and documenting Bookstore purchases.
- Reconcile the budget to expenditures.
- Review all expenditures.
- Train student and full-time staff on proper processes for use of funds.
- Oversee the processing of all money requests from R.A.s, RHA, Hall Advisors, etc.
Programming with Resident Assistants
- Provide programs for the Resident Assistants to follow.
- Provide direction on program ideas and topics to use.
Training of Hall Advisors and Resident Assistants
- Teach, train and mentor hall advisors and resident assistants.
- Teach hall advisor training sessions.
- Teach the R.A. class as requested.
- Teach R.A.s about building communities, and student development processes.
Education/Experience:
Minimum education/experience required: 4 years of Residence Life experience
Preferred: Bachelor’s Degree
