Human Resources Manager | Hybrid in Woodbridge, VA | 75k - 85k/yr | 9-Month Contract-to-hire

The Human Resource Manager will help lead and direct the routine functions of the Human Resources (HR) department including administering pay, benefits, and leave, onboarding new employees, and enforcing company policies and practices. The HR Manager will also assist the Director of Human Resources with
strategic initiatives through research and development. Manage 401k enrollment process for new hires and current employees.
• Manage annual workers’ compensation cases.
• Process requests, including but not limited to, extended leave requests (FMLA and disability) and ADA requests for accommodations.
Administration:

• Manage the annual open enrollment process.
• Conduct new hire benefits orientation and enrollment.
• Respond to employee relation issues such as employee complaints and harassment allegations.
• Perform state and local regulatory filing.
• Perform annual renewals of our health insurance, specialty insurance, professional liability insurance, property and casualty insurance, and any other insurances held.
• Ensure timely compliance filing.
• Work closely with the HR team and principals to ensure all new hires have the necessary hardware, software, logins, and office supplies ahead of their first day.
• As needed, communicate important details to new hires prior to their start date, including important company policies, work schedules, dress code, and parking information.
• Work closely with Marketing to develop and prepare onboarding welcome packages for each new hire.
Database Management:
• Coordinate out-processing (benefits termination, final paycheck calculations, electronic records update, physical records update/movement) with applicable departments (IT, payroll, licensing).
• Setup or update employee records, and process terminations in the human resources information system.
• Coordinate employment visas and permanent residency processing with Design Force’s support.
• Ensure up to date compliance postings in each office and annual filings.
• Capture and input all relevant payroll status changes (new name, address, promotions, transfers, benefits, hours, miscellaneous deductions, taxes, direct deposits, etc.) in coordination with the accounting department.
• Periodically monitor ACA compliance dashboard through the human resources information system.
• Collect necessary paperwork and other related documents from the new hire.
Strategic Planning:
• Research new approaches, policies, and procedures for continuous improvement of the quality ofservices provided.
• Support leaders and employees in managing employee relations opportunities, issues, orconcerns.
• Work closely with the Operations team to coordinate various office events including but not limited to holiday parties, volunteering outings, and new hire lunches.
• Maintain knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law; applying this knowledge to communicate changes in policy, practice, and resources to upper management.
• Interpret and administer policies, procedures, and programs, while ensuring compliance with applicable Federal and State statutes.

• Offer direction and guidance to team members daily regarding tasks at hand.
• Maintain the trust and respect of staff, peers and clients.
• Cultivate and uphold a positive team culture.
• Invest time and commitment to assist in the growth and development of team members.
• Train and mentor new and junior level staff members.
• Engage in training that furthers professional development.
Hard Skills
• 3+ years HR Generalist experience
• Experience with onboarding, benefits, new hire orientation
• Database management experience
• Experience with Employee Relations
Soft Skills
• Ability to offer direction and guidance to team members
• Ability to maintain trust and respect of staff, peers and clients
• Ability to cultivate and uphold a positive team culture

Work Site
This is a hybrid position requiring some days on-site in Woodbridge, Virginia and some days remote.
Work Environment
This is a hybrid role requiring on-site presence at least 3-4 days a week
