Athletics Marketing Intern

Job Description:
Brown University Athletics is seeking candidates for a Marketing Intern for the 2023-2024 season. The marketing assistant will assist in the development, coordination and execution of marketing plans for assigned varsity sports. Located in Providence, Rhode Island, and a member of the Ivy League, our intercollegiate athletics program consists of 34 varsity teams with approximately 1,000 athletes who participate within the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA-D1).

Job duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Assist in the development and coordination of marketing plans for the department and specific teams to generate attendance and revenue for athletic events.
  • Assist in event marketing, planning and implementation.
  • Develop game-day promotions. Assist with preparation of game-day public address scripts and execution of in-game promotions. Assist with planning and coordinating outside group attendance at athletic events.
  • Coordinate appearances by Bruno (mascot) at Athletics events, campus events, and at marketing events in the community.
  • Assist in Social Media Efforts. Capture and create content/messaging for official Brown Athletics social media outlets.
  • Perform additional duties and assist with special projects as assigned.

Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma/GED
  • Prior experience in athletics marketing, promotions, or operations preferred.
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, oral communication and computer skills needed.
  • Experienced with Adobe Photoshop
  • Possess a willingness and ability to support a diverse and inclusive environment.
  • The successful candidate for this position will be required to complete a criminal background, Education and credit check, and MVR check satisfactory to Brown University prior to commencing employment.
All division employees are required to demonstrate exemplary ethical conduct and conformance to NCAA rules and regulations; the duties of the position are to be performed in compliance with all NCAA and Ivy League rules and regulations; and any rules violations on behalf of themselves or any knowledge of violations within the division are to be reported to the appropriate parties. Employees in coaching positions are required to pass the NCAA Coaches Certification Test, maintain current AED/CPR & First Aid certification (certification is available at no cost through the Division), and attend all required divisional and/or NCAA training/education programs.
