Atlassian is seeking a Senior Software Engineer with Frontend skills to join their team. The role involves delivering and maintaining web frontend systems to provide excellent development and user experiences. The engineer will be part of the Confluence Frontend Platform and Devloop team, reporting to an Engineering Manager. Responsibilities include building and modernizing frontend infrastructure, improving CI/CD deployment pipeline, and enhancing the development experience. Collaboration with tech leads, engineering managers, and other frontend engineers is essential for achieving these goals.

What you'll do:

• Optimize CI/CD pipeline for reliable and fast deployments

• Make sure developers have access to the right tools and dev environment to complete their tasks efficiently.

• Reduce operational risk and the marginal cost of developing new features by modernizing Confluence’s frontend dependency supply chain.

• Maintain application health by defining and enforcing standards for frontend development in Confluence, and be a force multiplier for feature delivery teams by building and maintaining shared frontend infrastructure.

• Collaborate with other engineers, designers, and managers to understand user pain points and refine great solutions

• Debugging problems across systems/repositories and designing solutions that span the whole stack.

• Build client code that is fast, testable, and high quality.

Your background:

• Work in the Pacific time zone.

• A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a relevant field is required.

• 5+ years of relevant work experience

• Experience with Javascript (ES6), HTML5, CSS and experience with modern Javascript frameworks (e.g., React, AngularJS, Vue)

• Experience with modern testing frameworks (e.g., Jest, Playwright, Cypress, Mocha)

• Passionate about creating toolings, establishing an environment to improve the developer experience for the entire team

• Be proficient with one of the following skills:

  • Typescript

  • Bundler, such as Webpack, esbuild, Parcel, etc

  • Package managers, such as yarn or npm, etc

  • GraphQL and relevant tools, such as Apollo and Relay

It's great, but not required if you have:

• Experience with maintaining, enhancing, or establishing frontend CI/CD deployment pipeline (e.g. Jenkins, CircleCI, Bamboo)

• Experience with improving local development experience

• Experience with improving developer productivity

• Experience with bootstrapping a new FE application from scratch

• Experience with large-scale single page web applications

• Experience in Agile software development methodologies

• Familiar with Docker

Compensation

At Atlassian, we strive to design equitable and explainable compensation programs. To support this goal, the baseline of our range is higher than that of the typical market range, but in turn we expect to hire most candidates near this baseline. Base pay within the range is ultimately determined by a candidate's skills, expertise, or experience.

In the United States, we have three geographic pay zones. For this role, our current base pay ranges for new hires in each zone are:

Zone A: $195,800 - $234,900

Zone B: $176,200 - $211,500

Zone C: $162,500 - $195,000

This role may also be eligible for benefits, bonuses, commissions, and equity.
