KCC seeks an Atmospheric Scientist. In this position, you will join our model development team to research atmospheric science and the future implications for extreme events such as tropical cyclones, severe convective storms, and floods.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct advanced research and data analysis on how changes in climate are impacting extreme events in different parts of the world
  • Develop models of atmospheric hazards including tropical cyclones, extratropical cyclones, and severe convective storms.
  • Compile and analyze historical and forecast datasets
  • Conduct research and literature review
  • Present this research to our clients and at conferences—both industry and academic
  • Produce technical papers for a range of audiences, including academia and private sector industries
  • Provide scientific support for technical documents

Qualifications

  • PhD in Atmospheric Science or closely related field required
  • Experience working with/developing probabilistic or dynamic atmospheric models
  • Knowledge of statistical and physical meteorology
  • Excellent ability to communicate complex scientific topics to non-scientists
  • Evidence of outstanding scientific writing skills, including in academic papers
