The opportunity

We’re looking for a Head of Engineering to help us scale through our next stages of growth. If you’re passionate about building and enabling high performing teams to deliver on an ambitious mission - we should talk.

• Build, mentor and manage a world-class engineering team.
• Ensure the delivery of high quality products at speed with ownership and accountability.
• Work collaboratively across the organisation to ensure our roadmaps align with our top level goals.
• Oversee the design, development, and delivery of robust, performant and scalable solutions that meet our high standards.
• Set clear goals and expectations for the engineering team, providing regular feedback, coaching, and guidance.
• Facilitate effective communication and collaboration between squads and wider teams, aiding them in achieving their goals and addressing platform needs.
• Drive scalability, performance, security and compliance across the platform, implementing best practice and ensuring continuous improvement.

• You have proven leadership experience taking high-performance engineering teams through a scaling period.
• You’re able to get deep into technical problems and you hold incredibly high standards.
• You’re always pragmatic - you keep in mind how technology serves our users, business and internal goals. You’re not enamoured by the idea of technical purity for its own sake.
• You understand the challenges of scaling platforms to reliably support millions of users.
• You’re an outstanding people leader. You know how to build, guide and support teams of talented people in the pursuit of ambitious outcomes.
• You care about education and improving the lives of students and teachers.
