As a full-time audio/studio technician, you will work closely with the department leadership, engineering manager, and respective faculty to ensure that all equipment and teaching spaces used by the department stay technologically current and online with minimal downtime. Routine maintenance and repair work on the classroom, digital media transport, illumination, recording, and playback devices is required. The position will also be available to assist with all college events, venues, and live event spaces needing repair, consultation, and installation of sound and A/V-related needs.

In this role, you will assist with the annual capital expenditure and operating budget proposal, operational goals of new and/or redesigned installations, and other departmental projects. You will also be responsible for purchasing new equipment, designing and/or redesigning production suites, providing faculty orientation for new and existing systems, creating documentation for equipment users that facilitate learning and avoid operation error, establishing department-wide “standard operating conditions” for all installed systems, and maintaining accurate records of maintenance, repair, and inventory of all equipment. Should issues arise, you will promptly troubleshoot reported problems alongside network services, communicate with manufacturers regarding all technical support issues, and keep the department chairs and engineering manager informed of the status of all systems that are out for service or not operating properly.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Associate degree in electronics or related field
  • Electronics work experience
  • Comfortable reading service manuals and the operation of test equipment to troubleshoot a wide assortment of video and audio equipment down to the component level
  • Familiarity with the standards, test equipment used, and procedure to properly calibrate a room for visual displays and audio
  • A general understanding of the operation and troubleshooting of Mac hardware and software
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD, ProTools, Adobe CS suite, and Microsoft Office suite
  • Familiarity with the software and hardware offerings from Avid video and audio

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in electronics or related field or equivalent work experience

Certificates, licenses, and registrations: Valid driver’s license

Work Hours: The university work week is Sunday through Saturday. Most offices are open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. To accommodate business needs, employees may be assigned to other workdays and/or hours, including weekends and evenings.
