The VP of Investor Relations is responsible for the development and execution of the corporate investor relations strategy. This leader will report to the CFO and work directly with the CFO and CEO to plan and direct all aspects of investor relations objectives, strategies and initiatives. They will be responsible for integrating Avery Dennison’s vision and corporate business objectives, including corporate image, identity, tone and positioning, with investor relations activities and strategy. They will maintain and improve relations between Avery Dennison and its current and potential shareholders and the general financial community. Additionally, they will ensure that the organization’s relationship with the investment community reflects positively on the company’s stock price.
The key deliverable's expected by this role are:
Develop and execute IR strategy; be a thought partner to the CEO and CFO
Maintain/further develop investor confidence and belief in the company’s vision and strategy for delivering shareholder value
Responsible for overseeing and managing quarterly earnings and conference calls
Continue to enhance a robust investor relations strategy and framework, including investor targeting, as well as coordination of key events, including broker conferences, non-deal road shows, and Avery-sponsored IR events (e.g. Investor Days)
Provide internal and external audiences with an accurate and timely view of Avery Dennison’s business performance and prospects, through quarterly analysts meetings, investor conference calls, website content, etc.
Create and manage a strong reputation by demonstrating clear and consistent communication between internal and external parties
Cultivate analyst, investor and financial community relationships
Provide insights to the Board/leadership team on market and shareholder activity
Analyze and present financial trends, competitive insights, shareholder trends and other items that could impact the business
Work with legal counsel and corporate financial reporting team to ensure compliance on regulatory matters
Help prepare the company’s corporate reporting, including the annual report, 10-k, and quarterly filings
Must have strong analytical skills and a deep knowledge of business and finance. Strong financial acumen and hands-on analytical capability. Demonstrated knowledge of capital markets, financial performance metrics and financial statements. Use of financial analysis to evaluate and drive shareholder value.
Minimum 3 years of investor relations experience in a Fortune 500 company, sell/buy side experience or IR consulting experience and has demonstrated knowledge of investor relations practices and SEC regulations regarding disclosure of corporate information.
Minimum of 10 years of business experience in IR or related disciplines of finance, planning, strategy, treasury, accounting, etc.
MBA from a top program or equivalent relevant business experience required. Undergraduate degree in finance or business.
Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to effectively communicate with internal and external stakeholders. Ability to write clearly and persuasively, speak articulately, think quickly in fielding questions in a public setting and create powerful presentations. Able to rapidly and accurately distill complex information and transform it into a concise and readily understandable message. Able to build strong, trust-based relationships with sell side analysts and investors
Develop and translate broad strategies into specific objectives and action plans. Influence and align the organization to support strategic priorities.
Must have knowledge of SEC rules and regulations.
