Director of Marketing

As our Director of Marketing, you will play a pivotal role in Axion Ray’s go-to-market strategy and execution. Reporting directly to leadership, you will shape our brand, create compelling product messaging, and drive the execution of marketing initiatives. You’ll collaborate cross-functionally with sales, solutions, and product teams to elevate Axion Ray’s presence and build deep connections with our customers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Shape our product message and market positioning by deeply understanding our customers, their needs, and how Axion Ray can help them achieve their goals.

  • Tell the Axion story by owning the content calendar. Partner cross-functionally to create compelling content to grow the Axion Ray brand and nurture potential customers across channels (e.g., newsletter, site, social)

  • Partner closely with our sales and solutions team members to create and distribute collateral and enablement materials that resonate with our core personas across the customer lifecycle

  • Build and scale our Axion community by planning and producing value-driven events and communications (e.g., in-person and virtual events, content) 

  • Conduct in-depth market research to identify trends, customer needs, and competitive landscape.

  • Utilize market insights to inform company positioning, vertical strategies, and differentiation.

  • Lay the foundation for growth: Build scalable processes, frameworks, and scale the marketing functions for the next phase of growth.

  • Strong storyteller - You spike in your ability to distill complexity into simple language. You know how to get to the crux of a value proposition and translate it into all forms of content – website copy, sales messaging, emails, social, etc.

  • Scrappy - You’re excited to jump into the weeds to fill marketing gaps that you identify and develop MVPs to get efforts off the ground while laying the groundwork to build out our future-state marketing org

  • Customer driven - You’re excited to talk to prospects, community members, and customers and apply what you learn to the marketing strategy.

  • Creative and experimental - You’re excited to experiment and iterate with new content styles, tools, and channels to reach our ICPs.

  • Data-driven - You love understanding the results of campaigns and content you’ve created to understand the effectiveness and where to optimize. 

  • Strategic executor: You balance high-level strategic thinking with the ability to execute detailed projects effectively.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business, or a related field (MBA is a plus).

  • 4+ years experience in product marketing within the technology industry and specifically at early-stage startups. Experience in B2B Enterprise sales motion

    • Prior experience in companies that sell new-category software to traditional industries a plus 

  • You are organized with excellent project management skills and can effectively collaborate with a variety of stakeholders. You have experience taking input from sales and solution (i.e., customer success) team members.

  • You have excellent writing, editing, and communication skills. You have a strong attention to detail and can own and execute projects end to end.

  • You have worked at an early-stage startup and scaled the marketing function from 0 to 1 (Seed, Series A, B, or C).

Axion is based in New York, New York with a headquarters in Williamsburg and the team works in a hybrid capacity. This role is expected to work in office at least 3 days weekly.
