About You

We’re seeking a result-focused, innovative, self-driven, and well-qualified individual to join our talented team as our Director of Quality, North America Chemical. Based out of our Torrington Connecticut location, you will ensure quality and compliance through continuous improvement and best practices to ensure that North American systems, processes, and services meet quality and compliance requirements, proactively drive continuous improvement activities aimed at achieving enhanced efficiency, quality, safety, reliability, and cost reductions. Implement Six Sigma technology principles across the company, ensuring that quality issues are resolved promptly and effectively. Establish and maintain best practices for a harmonized global quality approach. In collaboration with the Global Quality Director, develop metrics and reports that provide meaningful data on activity levels, quality measures, and regulatory compliance.

In addition, you will:

  • Advise and influence leaders and managers across Operations, R&D, Engineering, Supply Chain, and other relevant functions by interpreting and communicating a global quality systems philosophy. Ensure this philosophy aligns with the design, manufacture, and marketing of adhesive products, and meets or exceeds regulatory requirements, stakeholder expectations, and customer satisfaction.
  • Develop and support a robust Global Adhesive Quality Management System (QMS) that rigorously upholds quality standards. This involves creating, implementing, and maintaining the organization’s QMS to ensure alignment with industry standards, such as ISO and FDA regulations. Integrate essential quality tools and methodologies to support effective quality management and continuous improvement throughout the organization. Work with the Global Quality Director to align NA and Global quality standards with the aim of establishing a common global standard at global, regional and local level
  • Team Leadership and Development: Accountable for the site team's progress, training plans, methodology implementation, and rapid rollout across the organization. Lead and mentor the NA Chemical quality team, providing guidance, training, and performance management.  Manages the selection, training, development, and performance of assigned staff to retain a motivated, professional workforce for the department. Promote a culture of quality and excellence within the team and across departments.
  • Lead the planning and execution of site/plant audits to ensure adherence to quality standards by setting and overseeing auditing standards and tools. Initiate corrective and preventive actions in response to audit findings. Develop comprehensive multi-year plans for global internal quality audits, including those prompted by specific causes and compliance requirements. Establish and maintain standards and tools for audit readiness, inspection preparedness, and monitoring the health of the quality system. Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance the effectiveness of the audit program.
  • Develop and track North American QMS quality objectives and metrics with Operations, Supply Chain, and R&D teams to maximize system reliability by promoting continuous improvement, and ensuring global QMS standards, processes and practices consistently meet stakeholder requirements. Provide regular reports and updates on the status of quality systems and compliance
  • Champion data-driven decision-making to achieve excellence in products and services by driving the implementation and integration of Six Sigma continuous improvement tools. Manage comprehensive internal audit programs, provide actionable feedback, share detailed report findings, and implement effective corrective and improvement actions to enhance internal processes.
  • Develop internal and external customer loyalty and rapport by reviewing and addressing customer satisfaction surveys and resolving issues as needed. Liaise with customers to execute timely corrective actions and partner with customer-facing teams to address feedback, complaints, and quality-related issues. Communicate problem-solving initiatives and resolutions to global business partners to ensure alignment and foster strong relationships.
  • Determine the feasibility of new product introduction / designs and significant product changes by managing the evaluation of their impacts on processes, tooling, testing, quality, and safety practices. Scrutinize relevant metrics, reports, and performance dashboards to assess potential effects. Collaborate with R&D, production, and supply chain teams to ensure quality standards are integrated throughout the product lifecycle. Support product development efforts with quality insights and feedback to drive successful product launches.

You should have:

  • Minimum bachelor’s degree in chemistry, or a related field
  • 7+ years’ experience in quality assurance roles and regulatory affairs roles
  • 10+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment or in a project management capacity related to the implementation of a Quality Management system, Lean Manufacturing or 6 Sigma projects
  • 10+ years’ experience preferred in Quality Management Systems, Iso9001, As9100, TS16949, ISO13485.
  • Recognized quality management credential – such as ASQ Certified Quality Engineer/Manager/ Auditor, ISO16949 Lead Auditor, or CQI Chartered Quality Management Professional
  • Excellent knowledge and experience working with ERPs; JD Edwards Enterprise-1, ETQ or similar electronic document control systems preferred
  • Advanced knowledge of auditing principles in manufacturing adhesives, oligomers, and conformal coatings
  • Excellent communications, interpersonal skills, project management, and organizational skills
  • Ability to coordinate activities across the organization and multiple manufacturing platforms
  • Strong communication and presentation skills
  • Strong coaching and people development and training skills
  •   Self-motivated and driven to achieve results
  •   Understanding of or willingness to learn continuous improvement methodologies
  •    Manufacturing plant leadership strongly preferred
  • Culture change management experience preferred
  • Blackbelt or Greenbelt certification is strongly preferred
  •   Microsoft Excel, PPT, proficiency required, PM tool such as MS Projects preferred, Minitab Preferred

Salary Range: $126,000-$189,000

Our company takes the compensation of its employees very seriously and considers several factors when determining the total compensation package including but not limited to location, market range, skills, knowledge, experience, and abilities. The base salary range represents the low and high end of our company's salary range for this position. Actual salaries will vary and may be above or below the range. The range listed is just one component of our company's total compensation packages for employees.
