Communications Intern Summer 2024

Communications Internship—Paid, Summer 2024

$15/hour; 15–19 hours/week

Location: Remote

Description

We’re looking for a passionate, responsible, and creative summer Communications Intern to join our marketing team and play a key role in developing our communications strategy and crafting effective messages for our diverse audience of teens, parents, and stakeholders.

You:

Are you a self-starter who can work independently and collaborate with a team? Do you love writing and engaging audiences in new and creative ways? Would you enjoy working in a fun, fast-paced, and supportive environment?  Then please apply if you have what it takes to join our marketing team!

While not required, this internship is ideal for alumni of BBYO who are now in college studying marketing, communications, journalism, and/or media, and looking to grow their communication skills, learn best practices, and contribute creatively to a global organization with a growing audience of tens of thousands of teens worldwide. This is a remote opportunity and can be undertaken from any location.

Us:

We’re the Jewish community’s largest and fastest-growing pluralistic platform for reaching and inspiring thousands of teens during the school year with 725 teen-led local chapters across North America and in 60 countries. We offer weekly activities, weekend retreats and conventions, and a plethora of summer experiences including leadership camps, global travel programs, and Israel visits. We work as a strong and inclusive team and every day is different by design. We are fast paced, high energy, and results driven.

Responsibilities

  • Craft written communications (emails, letters, press releases, etc.) to support and promote our various areas of business, including summer, membership recruitment, movement initiatives, and organizational growth.
  • A special focus of this summer internship will be placed on supporting communication activities leading up to and throughout our summer travel and camp experiences. This will include trip logistics communication, photography curation and posting, blog-style parent trip update editing and oversight, and other support as needed.
  • Learn to utilize communications tools like Kentico, Wordpress, Sprout Social, and ClickSend to support digital marketing activities—prior knowledge of these tools is not necessary but a basic background in website and email design is helpful.
  • Maintain our photography archive and select photos for marketing content as needed.
  • Take on special projects and new initiatives as needed.

Requirements

  • A creative and responsible self-starter who is comfortable with both taking initiative and working in collaboration with a team
  • Detail oriented with excellent writing and editing skills
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook)
  • A background in BBYO or similar youth/Jewish organization is strongly preferred, especially summer experiences
  • Availability to work 15–19 hours per week
  • Unrestricted authorization to work in the U.S. without holding a visa or sponsorship

In addition to your resume and cover letter, please include a short writing sample (including but not limited to materials produced in a previous internship, essays, emails, blog posts, and/or press releases).

We are committed to enhancing the Jewish experience, valuing diversity, providing equal opportunity, and maintaining an environment free from discrimination or harassment. BBYO is an equal opportunity employer and committed to the principle of equal employment opportunity by complying with all applicable laws which prohibit discrimination and harassment of any type in the workplace.
