Engineering Machine Technician

This position is responsible for assembling and dissembling closure equipment, traveling to customer sites to install machinery and train customers.

Duties and Responsibilities

  •   Assembles and disassembles closure equipment for resale.
  •   Able to work from diagrams, prints, specs and schematics to correctly assemble components.
  •   Completes low voltage wiring on small machines.
  •   Installs, services and troubleshoots equipment at customer sites, resolving mechanical, electrical and programming issues; also provides in-house technical support.
  •    Professionally represent Bedford with customers.
  •    Performs quality control work on assembled machines.
  •    Perform development testing of new equipment.
  •    Inspects parts from vendors.
  •    Provides “hands on” training for customers’ employees.
  •     Assists Sales & Engineering Coordinator with spare parts and product sizing
  •     Works with mechanical design teams, electrical control team and customers to ensure that machines meet all requirements.
  •    Assists with training other service personnel.
  •    Ability to work with mobile technology to complete business communication.
  •    Assists in other areas and performs additional tasks as needed.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements

  •    Works in a production environment
  •    Ability to travel both international and domestic to customer facilities and tradeshows. Travel is possible on the weekends and may occur on short notice.
  •    Able to work at various hours as needed by customer at install or service.
  •    Must have the ability to use both hands, fingers and arms with upper and lower body mobility
  •    Frequently sit, stand, stoop, twist and bend
  •    Ability to lift up to 25 pounds frequently, and move up to 80 pounds occasionally
  •   High school diploma required, 2 years of post-secondary education preferred
  •   Must be mechanically knowledgeable
  •   Electrical/electronic ability or education
  •   Quality conscious and safety minded
  •   Experience reading assembly drawings  
  •   Computer experience – (Microsoft Office)
  •   Troubleshooting experience
  •   Attention to detail, organizational skills, great communication
