Data Architect

We are looking for a Data Architect to join our growing Internal Data team! Reporting to the Director of Engineering, you will work with our clients to create an ingestion pipeline from their system to ours. As part of this role, you will work closely with our clients, Product and Engineering teams along with the senior Technical Architects to create impactful solutions and improve account realized value.


You Will:
  • Collaborate with BenchSci engineers, science, and sales folks, as well as engage with client stakeholders, including architects, scientists, and IT staff to design and deliver client  data ingestion pipelines from the client system to BenchSci
  • Work towards a balanced solution of standardized and scalable ingestion formats as well as meeting customized and unique client needs 
  • Scale data pipelines to ingest millions of documents from multiple clients throughout the year
  • Work with sources that contain both semi-structured and unstructured data
  • Use your experience to help define and apply best practices for a broad platform of technologies in a cloud-based environment
  • Leverage a deep understanding of the business context and the team’s goals to unlock independent technical decisions in the face of open-ended requirements
  • Integrate security standards and processes into solutions to meet and sustain compliance with both BenchSci and client mandates
  • Respond with urgency and drive urgency in own team to operational issues, owning resolution within one's sphere of responsibility
  • Anticipate client needs, identify, and champion opportunities for the development and implementation of new services and methods to meet or exceed client needs


You Have
  • A degree in Computer Science/Engineering  or a related field
  • 5+ years experience working as a software developer with expertise in data ingestion frameworks, and proficiency with SQL and Python
  • 3+ years experience working in client-facing or similar Solution Architect roles, particularly in designing client-facing integration and interfacing solutions
  • Proficient with data and ML pipelines, ETL, data integration, and data indexing designs and solutions
  • Experience with multiple cloud solutions (AWS, GCP, Azure) and on-prem deployments, enterprise data/AI architecture,  data/AI  governance, security and compliance
  • Experience in applying analytical, statistical or data science principles in analyzing volumes of data
  • Background in Life Science (cell biology, molecular biology, genetics, immunology, microbiology)


Nice To Have:
  • Worked with Electronic Lab Notebook (ELN) systems
  • Have worked with or at a pharmaceutical company
