R&D Scientist (Remote)

We are looking for an R&D Scientist to join our growing R&D team! Reporting directly to the R&D Manager, The goal of the R&D team is to develop machine learning technology to decode scientific literature. As an R&D Scientist, you will work closely with other R&D Scientists and ML Engineers to apply your scientific research knowledge to improve our current ML models and to come up with new ideas to advance our technology.

BenchSci is a remote first organization. At this moment, we are welcoming applicants from Canada, the US and the UK for this position. 

• Work closely with AI and ML engineers to train and fine tune models to better answering biological questions.
• QA results from models and pipelines to identify deficiencies and to develop strategies to improve overall data collection and generation.
• Conduct ongoing research to improve biological question answering and experimental design using LLMs.
• Expand our biomedical libraries and overall proteomic functionalities to improve accuracy of biological question answering.
• Keep up with current biomedical research to guide technology development.
• Help with improvement of UI/UX and search accuracy of the BenchSci platform

• PhD or MSc with 3+ years of relevant bench experience in life sciences (e.g. Molecular Biology, Pharmacology, etc.).
• Extensive knowledge and/or bench experience in experimental biology research techniques, including but not limited to: Pre-clinical studies, Drug discovery, Genetics, In vivo studies, Immunological studies, Functional assays, Microbiology, ADME assays, Pharmacokinetics, Pharmacodynamics, Toxicology testing.
• Experience working with bioinformatics databases (eg. DrugBank, SIDER, Uniprot, STRING, Kegg Pathways, etc).
• Ability to think outside the box and develop solutions to problems you have not seen before.
• Ability to adapt to changing priorities and create process improvements.
• Comfortable with open-ended tasks.
• Strong organization and time-management skills with keen attention to detail.
• Experience working with large data sets and working with data processing tools such as Excel, SQL and Python/R, is a plus.
