Medcor, Inc. is seeking our next Benefits Manager! In this role, you will plan, direct and implement the operations of various employee benefits programs and insurance plans, including health, life, accident, disability, employee assistance programs, and flexible spending plans, and performs related duties as required. This position reports to VP of HR and partners with Payroll, and Wellness departments.
The work location is hybrid, working remotely from your home, and at least 2-4 days per month working from our corporate office in McHenry, IL or Itasca, IL. The schedule for this position is Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 5:00pm CST. The schedule may vary to ensure availability for advocates who may work different shifts.
This is what you'll do....
- Plan and assist COO and VP of HR with the operation of various employee benefits programs, overall program operations, including premium rate determinations and significant benefit plans administrative issues.
- Partner with Human Resources for the preparation and distribution of the insurance and other benefits and enrollment materials.
- Consult with insurance brokers to survey and obtain coverage trends, options, and costs; assists COO and VP of HR with responses to insurance proposals from brokers/agents and consultants and makes recommendations for coverage and provider changes.
- Oversee the work of TPAs for employee benefits plans and facilitates resolution of various employee issues with TPAs (i.e. COBRA, STD & etc.)
- Explain employee benefits programs and services to new and current employees. Conducts monthly benefits webinars for new and current employees. Updates all benefit materials for employees annually and as required. Conducts annual and bi-annual (as applicable) open enrollments for benefit plans.
- Prepare and issues monthly payments to benefit/insurance plans; assists COO and VP of HR with preparing and administering annual budget for health insurance, unemployment insurance and worker's compensation insurance programs; maintains and evaluates financial records and program costs.
- Partner with Payroll Department and conducts benefit enrollment and benefit terminations via vendor enrollment web portals. Keeps and maintains employee benefit files in ADP Cloud.
- Partner with the Wellness Manager for the wellness program enrollment.
- Maintain knowledge of federal and state benefit related regulations and educates the team on the changes in a timely manner with clear verbal and written communications (including ERISA, COBRA, FMLA, ADAAA, SECTION 125, Medicare, Social Security, ACA & etc.)
- Develop communication tools to enhance the understanding of the company benefits plans and generates content with very minimal assistance.
- Suggest and implements new benefit programs. Review and implement improvements to benefit related processes (i.e. open enrollments, new hire enrollments, education).
- Work with Payroll regarding termination of benefits.
- Conduct 401k audits and make sure Medcor matches the bank’s quarterly statements.
- Track hours of all non- full time advocates to see if they qualify for either Medcor’s medical plan under the ACA.
- Maintain a spreadsheet of 401k match to make sure Benefits enrolls them in the 401k match when they become eligible.
To qualify, you'll need to have....
- A Bachelor's Degree or above (preferred), or equivalent work experience
- A minimum of 3-years' of professional experience in developing and managing employee health and benefit insurance programs, workers' compensation, or other employee benefits programs
- A minimum of 3-years' of payroll/finance related experience
- 1-year of customer service experience in an administrative environment is preferred
- Computer savvy; must be able to function in multiple databases and/or multiple websites at one time
- Efficiency in Microsoft Office 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- The ability to type 40+ words per minute and pass a preemployment typing test
- Experience in a healthcare organization is a plus
- High attention to detail
- The ability to multitask and manage time effectively
- Strong written and verbal communication
- Excellent file management skills
- A strong sense of urgency, adaptability, flexibility and resourcefulness
