WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
Berkhire Hathaway Homestate Companies, Workers Compensation Division, has an immediate opening for a Generalist to join our HR Operations team in our Omaha, NE office! This individual will provide professional level human resources support for effective employee life cycle management, in addition to carrying out responsibilities in one or more functional areas, such as, staffing, employee relations, administering leave benefits, compensation, training, safety, employment equity programs, and enforcing company policies and practices. This will entail engagement with all levels of the company, including some coaching of management in these areas previously mentioned.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES- Coordinate and facilitate the onboarding process for new hires, assisting with the setup, documentation requirements, and provision of necessary equipment and access.
- Conduct orientation sessions, providing necessary information on company policies, benefits, and procedures.
- Assists in the processing of employee life cycle events to include onboarding, promotions, transfers, leaves of absence, and terminations; ensuring proper documentation, compliance, and communication.
- Provide knowledgeable HR advisory service to employees and management in relation to performance conduct and capability, job description development and audits, organizational change and minor employee-relations matters.
- Conduct exit interviews and analyze feedback to identify trends and make recommendations for improvement. Communicate findings and insights and summarize and track broader company results.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee files and records in the HRIS (Human Resources Information System), ensuring data integrity and confidentiality.
- Assist in the development and implementation of employee recognition programs and initiatives.
- Coordinate the scheduling and administration of compliance and departmental based training sessions, ensuring employee participation and completion while maintaining accurate records.
- Ensure the proper communication and interpretation of all Human Resources policies and procedures, providing guidance and interpretation for business operations.
- Stay current with all applicable employment laws and regulations, ensuring compliance in all HR practices and training initiatives.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS- EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree required with a focus in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
- EXPERIENCE: 3+ years of experience as an HR Generalist or in a related role, preferably with a focus on onboarding, life cycle management, and training development.
- Strong understanding of employment labor laws, regulations, and best practices.
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong working knowledge of HRIS profile management preferably within ADP Workforce Now.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with employees at all levels.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data management and record-keeping.
- Demonstrated ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion.
- A proactive and customer-service-oriented mindset, with a commitment to providing exceptional HR support.
