Location:
This is a remote role to be based within the Washington, DC metropolitan area to facilitate attendance at client meetings. You must be legally authorized to work in the USA. Bixal does not provide visa sponsorship.
What will you do?
The Knowledge Management (KM) Specialist will provide knowledge management and organizational learning support to a global USAID-funded 5-year program. The KM Specialist will support the USAID Bureau for Resilience, Environment, and Food Security (REFS) in strengthening its capacity for knowledge management. You will support activities to increase awareness and use of new evidence and lessons learned from within REFS portfolio of programming and other development activities by USAID and Mission staff.
Important note:
This is a full-time proposal position contingent on contract award.
Responsibilities- Support the implementation of strategies and frameworks for knowledge curation, synthesis and dissemination.
- Provide support to REFS and Activity leadership in the compilation, curation, and cataloging of knowledge management products for easy access/sharing across the Bureau and across the Agency.
- Work closely with project leadership to develop and execute communication and knowledge management plans as part of a holistic knowledge management and dissemination strategy. Adjust the strategy based on data and continuous reviews of tools and approaches.
- Support to REFS in monitoring and evaluating knowledge management-related analytics, helping REFS use this information to inform future knowledge management approaches and better understand user needs and behaviors.
- Supportthe documentation and dissemination of information and lessons learned, good practice, development challenges, and opportunities related to the work of REFS.
- Support the development of knowledge products e.g., learning briefs, case studies, research findings and other technical products) and creation of data-driven visualizations (e.g., infographics, story maps) for internal and external audiences.
- Support the implementation of learning agenda activities across REFS following parameters set by the Bureau for Planning, Learning and Resource Management (PLR).
- Coordinate with REFS implementing partners and key stakeholders on knowledge management activities.
- Support internal and external knowledge sharing events such as seminars, workshops, webinars, online discussions, or in-person events, as needed.
- Contribute to efforts to determine how new technology such as Natural Language Processing, Large Language Models, and Artificial Intelligence can be employed to improve knowledge management activities.
Qualifications- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, plus at least two years of relevant knowledge management experience working on complex international development programs ,preferably with USAID in the sectors of agriculture, environment and/or food security.
- Experience in developing and implementing a wide range of knowledge management and organizational learning activities, including knowledge products, website content management, peer-to-peer learning, and knowledge sharing events.
- Experience supporting and enhancing knowledge management systems in International Development contexts, preferably within USAID.
- Experience with online and face-to-face approaches (e.g. workshops, webinars) to knowledge management and learning.
- Experience working with clients to evaluate KM needs, identify opportunities to improve KM systems, processes, and culture, and implement recommendations.
- Excellent communications and interpersonal skills with evidence of ability to establish strong working relationships with diverse stakeholders.
- Ability to work as part of a cross-cultural team with a high degree of sensitivity and cultural competence.
- Willingness and ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 10%.
- Must be able to obtain Public Trust security clearance.

$75,000 - $90,000 a year
