Blockworks is a financial media brand that delivers breaking news and premium insights about digital assets to millions of investors. Our content, newsletters, podcasts, and events provide investors with the critical analysis and information they need to make smarter decisions about digital assets.
You are a multi-talented, creative person who thrives in building and following diligent processes almost as much as you thrive in a team of kind and motivated people. You consider yourself meticulous and thorough with a keen eye for detail and polish. You are highly organized, efficient, and take pride in getting the job done quickly yet correctly. You love to work with a sense of urgency and are comfortable operating at the speed a newsroom requires.
You have an exceptional work ethic, and you balance it with an authentic sense of humor. You're a natural collaborator, and you are excited about the opportunity to work with and frequently communicate with a thoughtful and ambitious team.
As our Editorial Operations Specialist, you'll be a key member of our editorial operations team. You’ll work directly with our Head of Media Operations and our Publishing and Production Manager to help craft and present our journalists’ work in the best way possible — on time, free of errors, and with a creative flair.
Every day will look a little different, but in general, you will do things like:
Collaborate on Content Production: You'll partner with our editors and reporters to support the output of high-quality content. This might look like brainstorming creative subject lines, selecting compelling imagery for articles, or attending newsletter planning calls.
Edit, Proof, and Publish: You will copy edit and proof content and simultaneously follow team workflows to prepare that content for publication on Beehiiv (newsletters) and on WordPress (the Blockworks website).
Prepare and Promote Social Content: You'll assist editorial team members with minor content writing, such as social media copy, headlines, subject lines, and support the dissemination of our content on social media platforms, including X, LinkedIn, and Telegram.
Drive Operational Efficiency: In addition to ensuring the editorial processes are followed by all members of the team, you'll leverage process and system thinking to support and suggest improvements to our primary workflows.
Experimentation is frequent at Blockworks. Being comfortable with being uncomfortable is a must.
Simply put, you're exceptional at copy editing and proofreading, and you love to continuously hone that skill. Editing content for spelling, grammar and comprehension are second nature to you, and it isn't unheard of for a misplaced comma to keep you awake at night.
You have experience writing for social media, and you're excited to showcase some of your most impactful posts (especially any professional ones). You're able to inherently understand audiences and love tailoring your messaging to fit those audiences in an authentic way.
You are no stranger to a fast-paced work environment and have a successful track record of regularly performing with grace under pressure.
Crypto knowledge is not a requirement, but a willingness to learn about the space is essential.
If you've worked with WordPress, Beehiiv or other content/newsletter management systems, we want to hear about it. However, it isn't a requirement of the role. You'll regularly use Photoshop, so graphic design experience and familiarity with Adobe products is a plus. Finally, bonus points if you’ve spent time in a newsroom or another fast-paced media environment.
This is a full time exempt position with an expected salary of $65,000/year.
