Location: This is a full-time position with on-site presence at our office in central Zurich, Switzerland.
Job Summary
At BLP, the DevOps role is viewed as a software engineering position with a focus on systems skills. We value a highly structured and organised approach, thoroughness, and a solid understanding of core software engineering principles. Technology-wise, we leverage a modern tech stack that includes Python, TypeScript, Go, Terraform, Docker, and Microservices on a Kubernetes Cluster, deployed as Software-as-a-Service on GCP. You will commonly work on topics such as:
Development and oversight of our K8s cluster (e.g. monitoring and alerting, security enhancements),
Development and maintenance of our cloud resources (e.g. identifying systems that meet our needs, maintaining and provisioning infrastructure, optimising costs),
Improvement of local development processes: providing the necessary tooling and maintaining build systems and CI pipelines.
Key Responsibilities:
Bring a strong desire to learn and understand systems in depth.
Assist in identifying inefficiencies and pain points in our systems and implement reliable solutions to solve them.
Conduct code reviews and provide constructive feedback to ensure the overall quality and consistency of the codebase.
Requirements:
Hold a Master’s Degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
Be highly driven and have a strong desire to learn and improve.
Be highly structured and organized.
Nice to Have:
Systems knowledge (operating systems, networking, virtualization) from either university courses or practical projects.
Software engineering knowledge (building reliable and maintainable software) from either university courses or practical projects.
