The Project Accountant position is the first level of a stand-alone project financial position, with an expectation of past experience in Accounting or Finance. The Project Accountant must be able to support project teams with a high level of logical skills and expertise to produce timely, accurate and meaningful financial information.
KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Analyzes and resolves accounting issues to insure accuracy in project reporting as a key member of the project team while meeting contractual agreements and accounting standards in order to process payables in compliance to ensure accurate allocations and payment
Reconciles job cost to ensure appropriate cost is billed to the owner and communicate contributing factors of over/under variances to project team for follow-up
Performs monthly pay applications to owner and provides additional required reporting
Routinely performs reconciliation of A/R accounts in accordance to Barton Malow’s standards and provide monthly billing accruals. C onducts accounts receivable audits on aged accounts and coordinates corrective action with project team
Assists in project budget set up while supporting and reviewing the accuracy of mark-ups and price conditions.
Understands and analyzes forecasting and cost review with teams, while identifying the risk and effect on monthly financials and project reporting.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance preferred
Ability to effectively communicate with both internal and external partners
Balance project team role with PFC group fiduciary responsibilities
Ability to analyze, identify and resolve issues with accounts receivable and payable
Effective time management, organization skills and attention to detail. Ability to multi-task, prioritize activities and work under pressure.
Ability to recognize and communicate project risks and analyze various methods and types of project deliveries
