The Boeing Company is looking for a Lead User Experience Designer to join our team in Arlington, VA; Mesa, AZ; North Charleston, SC; Philadelphia, PA; Berkeley, MO; or Seattle, WA. Digital experiences are a standard part of almost digital product at The Boeing Company and great user experience design is crucial to our success. Boeing Defense, Space and Security (BDS) organization is looking for a qualified UX designer to join the BDS Data Analytics group to help us implement the best possible designs and interfaces for our digital products. The candidate will be capable of applying their UX skills to design, structure, and shape digital environments for the largest possible user base. This individual will also demonstrate significant motivation, drive, creativity, and understanding of our brand with a positive, proactive attitude. We are a product led analytics group transforming the way business is run using artificial intelligence and machine learning (AI&ML) and is at the forefront of developing and deploying AI&ML solutions for the BDS Organization. You will join a growing analytics team that supports AI&ML products for internal stakeholders and external customers, across all business functions. You will report to the Senior Manager of Applied Data Science and work closely with our leadership and business partners. Position Responsibilities: • Develop high-quality user interfaces tailored to key audiences • Collaborate with other departments to maximize efficiency • Support open communication and cross-pollination with partner organizations • Craft a brand story • Participate in user-centered design activities, including creating journey maps, wireframes, and prototypes. • Participate in conducting user research through interviews, field studies and surveys. • Ideate on new and unique UX concepts • Identify business, technical and usability requirements • Support and aid in the creation of user interaction design alternatives and the building of prototypes. • Participate in conducting usability tests, heuristic evaluations, and other reviews to evaluate the efficiency and effectiveness of designs. • Lead UX design activities for the BDS Analytics group. This position is hybrid. This means that the selected candidate will be required to perform at least 2 days of work per week onsite at one of the listed location options. This is at the hiring team’s discretion and could potentially change in the future. This position must meet export control compliance requirements. To meet export control compliance requirements, a “U.S. Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. §120.15 is required. “U.S. Person” includes U.S. Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee. Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience): • 5+ years experience designing scalable user interfaces for digital products • Experience designing web apps, mobile apps, and desktop solutions • Experience with design software such as Figma, Storybook, Sketch, and InDesign • Experience working with cross-functional teams • Experience with user-centered design activities, including creating journey maps, wireframes, and prototypes Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience): • College-level education in a design-focused area (preference for MFA degrees) • Background in branding • Background in a variety of media (software, print, etc) • Deep familiarity with agile software development • Comprehensive fluency with component libraries • Basic understanding with at least one programming language such as HTML, CSS, or JavaScript • Willingness and experience in creating a comprehensive set of reusable design artifacts and component libraries for future design activities across the organization. Typical Education/Experience: Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 14 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+9 years' related work experience, Master+12 years' related work experience, 18 years' related work experience, etc.). Relocation: This position offers relocation based on candidate eligibility.
