LOCATION: This position is onsite, office-based in Atlanta, GA (hybrid model - 3 days remote / 2 days in office- Tuesday & Wednesday)

JOB SUMMARY

The Director, Teen Engagement will be primarily responsible for the leading, planning and execution of BGCA’s premier national teen conference experience. The ideal candidate will be responsible for working closely with Clubs in creating innovative teen program content and managing a portfolio of teen programs and initiatives that supports teen conference attendance and organizational efforts to increase tween (ages 10-12) and teen (ages 13-18) membership and participation across the Boys & Girls Club enterprise. This candidate must have a solid understanding of event project management and driving youth engagement. The Director will also be responsible for supporting the organizational teen strategy, developing innovative approaches to support local Clubs in recruiting and retaining tween and teen Club members, provide training, guidance, and consultative services to Club staff.
Responsibilities:
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
National Teen Conference Planning and Management
  • Co-manage the annual National Keystone Conference experience for Club teens and advisors across the Movement to ensure a robust, safe and teen-centric event for all attendees.
  • Oversee conference projects to include a successful project design, timeline, budget, vendors contracts and partnership integration.
  • Manage and guide the execution of teen workshops, general session development, main stage speakers, college and career expo, community service experiences, games room and evening and offsite activities.
  • Create and manage all internal and external communications and ensure conference functions for all stakeholders are aligned, informed and updated in a timely manner.
  • Provide support and clear direction to internal BGCA teams responsible for executing conference activities and event experiences.
  • Ensure all programmatic workshop content is engaging and teen focused.
  • Form, engage and manage a conference steering committee, made up of local Boys & Girls staff and teens, to include execution of a planning retreat, pre-conference responsibilities, and onsite conference leadership roles.

Club Capacity Building

  • Collaborate across the Field Services Division to deliver targeted support that will build Clubs’ capacity to recruit, engage and retain teens and tweens.
  • Partner and work closely with Clubs in establishing best practices and developing tools and resources to share across the Boys & Girls Club Movement, such as professional development, webinars, recommended policies, practices and programmatic supports.
  • Facilitate peer-to-peer learning communities comprised of professionals from local Boys & Girls Clubs to foster a support network to share promising practices, innovative approaches and problem-solving.
  • Support and provide consultation, training and technical assistance to Clubs to support local program implementation.

Strategy Integration and Execution

  • Support the execution of all aspects of BGCAs Teen and Tween Engagement Strategy including, but not limited to, cross-departmental efforts on national recruitment activities, teen space renovations in Clubs, high-quality Club experiences, internal and external communication, fundraising supports and staff professional development opportunities.
  • Advise Club staff on best practices to increase participation in BGCA’s premier tween and teen leadership programs.
  • Work collaboratively in developing thought leadership documents and reports that advance BGCA as a leader in successful teen and tween outreach, program interventions and more.
  • Manage a portfolio of multi-million-dollar corporate funding and ensure the timely and quality delivery of project goals and objectives.

SUPERVISION EXERCISED
  • No direct Reports. May monitor and coordinate the work of temporary employees or contractors.
Qualifications:
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • Bachelor’s degree, master’s degree preferred, in education, youth development, sociology, psychology, public health, or a related field.
  • Strong project management and event management experience
  • Ability to follow-through on strategic execution of high-profile, high-priority initiatives.
  • Expertise in emotional and physiological development of adolescents, digital engagement, teen and tween trends, positive youth development, high-quality youth programming and youth outreach.
  • Minimum of five years of experience with progressive responsibility in youth development, project management, training facilitation or applicable experience with the following:
o Event planning
o Working directly with tweens and teens and program management experience
o Leading multiple, simultaneous projects
o Advanced level problem-solving skills and excellent written, verbal and communication skills

  • Physical requirements include: sitting for multiple hours a day, standing for multiple hours a day, stooping; skills essential for successful communications include speaking, writing and reading comprehension.

ENVIRONMENTAL & WORKING CONDITIONS
Normal internal office environment. Travel is estimated at up to 40%. The individual selected for this position must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and be able to navigate areas of the country or abroad by using a map or other direction methods. Ability to travel by car, airplane, or other modes of transportation required.
