Overview
Boys & Girls Club of Metro Los Angeles is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Finance Associate to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the financial services operation and activities of the Finance Department. Duties related to this position focus on performing detail-oriented accounting work involving the classifying, posting, balancing, reconciling, and summarizing of financial transactions. Duties assigned may vary according to the specific needs of the Finance Department and/or allocation of workload. This position reports to the Chief Financial Officer.
Job Responsibilities

Lead accounts payable end-to-end. Own our day-to-day expense transactions including paying vendors and maintaining the expense reporting system. Ensure costs are tagged to the correct account, department and project and are properly approved by managers.

Ensure all donations are posted timely and properly in database and accounting system.

Lead daily reconciliation and journal entry for online donations.

Proactively ensure consistency, accuracy, and completeness of account coding in MIP/QBO and Bill.com; follow up on data entry issues to reconcile errors.

Prepare and maintain reimbursement expenditure reports for grants and reconcile monthly reports to funds received.

Assist the Chief Financial Officer and the Director of Finance with financial monitoring and reporting.

Assist the Chief Financial Officer with the preparation of the annual audit reports.

Communicate with administrative and program staff and outside contacts to provide financial and accounting information and support as needed.

Maintain knowledge of internal control requirements.

Cross train on other Finance functions.

Flexibility to take on new tasks as the Finance Department needs change.

Assist with financial report preparation, analysis, and communication to internal budget owners regarding budget variances.

Support month-end close activities, including reconciliations of accounts such as cash, prepaid expenses, fixed assets,

Contribute to other projects, as needed.
Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in accounting or closely allied field.

Accounting work experience may be substituted for education on a year-for-year basis.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and solve accounting issues.

Excellent attention to detail and accuracy, with a thorough understanding of accounting principles and regulations.

Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
Additional Requirements:

Computer software skills, including the ability to use office software, such as databases, spreadsheets, and word processing.

Demonstrated working knowledge of policies and procedures in a complex organization.

Professional working experience in a non-profit organization.
Additional Information:
This position works out of the Challengers Location in the Administrative office Mon-Fri 9am-5pm.
