SCOPE OF ROLE The AVP, Health Plan Operations will work with executives and leaders to frame the operational needs of functional areas with operational dependencies, drive the strategic planning process, develop a wide-ranging partnership process, and drive actional decisions. In order to do this, the AVP will have a strong understanding of Health Plan Operations relative to markets, lines of business, networks, regulatory and compliance, finance, customer needs, and Bright Health's enterprise capabilities. In addition, the AVP will help develop and drive the narrative throughout the organization to gain support fot the strategy and help drive execution. The AVP will also lead internal discussions and analysis, develop and execute on partnerships, and support Bright Health Plan Operations initiatives. They will work in close partnership with the SVP Health Plan Operations, Bright Healthcare leadership, and Corporate entities to develop and execute against major business objectives. ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES The Associate Vice President, Health Plan Operations job description is intended to point out major responsibilities within the role, but it is not limited to these items. Represent the SVP of Health Plan Operations in cross-organizational initiatives spanning production operations, operational excellence, service excellence, readiness, operational support and client / external party partnerships by directly contributing to scoping, initiating, planning, executing, controlling and closing key strategic projects Lead and manage budget management and strategic planning across Health Plan Operations Solve unique and complex problems requiring integrated and/or cross functional solutions with broad impact Gather, design and create materials needed by SVP Operations for broad communication and presentation across business units and C-Suite leaders Lead in a team environment both within the Health Plan Operations team and Bright HealthCare team and with business unit partners / customers Influence Senior Leadership to adopt new ideas, products and/or approaches and gain commitment on cross-company initiatives Proactively bring attention and action to emerging changes in marketplace and among competitors Develop team members, and enhance their skills and capabilities through project work and one-to-one coaching Communicate and collaborate with teams across all functional areas of the organization Other duties and responsibilities as assigned SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES This position has supervisory responsibilities for the assigned Health Plan Operations team. EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE BA required Minimum of 10 years Health Plan Operations Experience running large scale production and service operations with, experience in multiple lines of business 5
years managing and developing management teams Strong financial analysis and proven track record of meeting or exceeding budget responsibilities 10
years Experience directly and indirectly leading teams in a highly productive and matrixed environment 5
years assessing, selecting and managing vendors Strong analytical background and strategic partnership experience required Bachelor's degree required. Progressive track record of increasing leadership experience and responsibility Demonstrated results implementation and/or managing large operational centers, functions and/or products Experience in high growth company Experience in matrixed organization preferred PROFESSIONAL COMPETENCIES Ability to create and manage a processes from ideation to execution Client-facing experience and comfort leading meetings / discussions with internal/external parties Financial modeling and due diligence experience Strong financial analysis and track record of meeting or exceeding budget responsibilities Solid understanding of federal and state regulatory requirements of commercial and government health plans Team player that is hard-working and demonstrates sound business judgment. A track record of successfully negotiating across a broad range of potentially conflicted attributes including business, product, technology, branding, channels, and third-party contributions to arrive at the optimum strategy. Deep understanding of software and business technology markets, trends, and dynamics is an advantage. Track record for growing and mentoring junior talent, as well as leading team-based engagements. Exceptional executive level oral and written communication skills and ability to formulate and deliver insights around complex business problems in a thoughtful and persuasive manner Ability to manage multiple simultaneous high-priority initiatives and projects (often including project management of cross-functional teams and strategy analysts) A love for team-based work in a high intensity environment (i.e., a willingness to get your hands dirty and play whatever role the team needs and to operate against demanding deadlines for senior executives) A 'question the status quo' and entrepreneurial mindset; a love for learning and natural curiosity Exceptionally strong personal initiative, good business instincts, and comfort with ambiguity WORK ENVIRONMENT The majority of work responsibilities are performed in an open office setting, carrying out detailed work sitting at a desk/table and working on the computer. Travel will be required.
Salary Range:
$250K -- $500K+
