HR Generalist (Contract)

We are seeking a Director of HR to join our team. This person will be responsible for managing and overseeing all HR functions, including benefits administration, performance management, HR compliance, Immigration, compensation benchmarking, on/off-boarding, and PTO management. The ideal candidate will have strong interpersonal skills, be detail-oriented, have a comprehensive understanding of HR policies and procedures, are comfortable working in a fast-paced ambiguous environment, and have prior experience mentoring/managing people. 


**This position is on-site 5 days / week based out of our Cleveland office**


Core Responsibilities
  • Employee Relations & HR Compliance
  • Help manage the entire employee relations lifecycle, including handling harassment and discrimination complaints. This involves establishing investigation plans, conducting investigations, recommending resolutions, and collaborating with the Legal Team for implementation.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws, regulations, and best practices.
  • Help develop, review, and update HR policies, procedures, and guidelines to ensure compliance with legal requirements and industry standards.
  • Analyze employee relations trends, metrics, and data to identify areas of improvement and make proactive recommendations to enhance the employee experience.
  • Ensure proper documentation and record-keeping practices are followed to maintain compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Collaborate with the legal team to address complex compliance issues and mitigate legal risks. Provide training and education to employees and managers on HR compliance topics, including anti-discrimination, harassment prevention, and data privacy.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, such as Legal, Finance, and IT, to ensure HR processes and systems comply with relevant laws and regulations.
  • Help manage employee surveys and conduct exit interviews.
  • Assist in identifying feedback trends, analyze data, present key findings, and develop a plan to improve gaps. Lead discussions to resolve employee issues.
  • DEI: Help increase cultural awareness, support diversity goals, increase business impact, and increase employees’ sense of community. 


What it Takes to be Successful
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field
  • 5+ years of experience in the HR Business Partner role or Employee Relations role with at least one year handling complex employee relations issues
  • Experience in scaling companies during the growth stage
  • Strong business acumen with a background in driving HR policies, processes, and initiatives
  • Strong knowledge of principles & practices of HR, including employment law & compliance requirements
  • Proven ability to effectively coach employees and management through complex and challenging issues, providing recommendations for effective problem resolution.
  • Customer service attitude and a focus on providing excellent support to internal employees
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and practical verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to set high personal goals and work independently
  • Tech-savvy and familiar with UltiPro / UKG and Lever
