Job Overview

TD Cowen is seeking a Broker-Dealer Accountant to join its Finance-Broker Dealer Regulatory Reporting control division in New York City and will be hybrid based.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the team's effort in accurate and timely reporting of its SEC 15c3-1 (Net Capital) and 15c3-3 (Customer Protection) and regulatory deliverables for a U.S. broker-dealers.

This role will support the reporting responsibilities for the different US regulated entities as well as providing key metrics internally for management of business , risk and control purposes. This role will be responsible for the regulatory policy development and the related reporting production risk controls/processes as it relates to overall FOCUS reporting, net capital and customer protection as well as maintaining key relationships with both internal and regulatory stakeholders (SEC/FINRA/NFA/External Audit).

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the coordination, preparation, and management of FOCUS Reporting for various US Regulated Entities.
  • Coordinate with Operations & Middle Office to ensure our back-office settlement system is line with books and records. Diagnose & problem solve where issues arise. Solve up-stream challenges to alleviate the burden on month end close. Accurate reflect any suspense breaks, control breaks to ensure consistency within Operations and Finance.
  • Produce weekly & monthly deliverables for regulatory reporting calculations and filing requirements (FOCUS, Net Capital & Customer Protection) for the US regulated entities (institutional, swap and limited purpose dealers);
  • Work with various Vendor Software programs to further automate various components of 15c3-3 and 15c3-1.
  • Participating in various team projects & initiatives in translating the tactical regulatory reporting processes into the desired strategic automated state
  • Optimize the regulatory reporting results into useful analytics for internal management purposes of capital usage and customer protection lock up.
  • Responsible for various in completing the SEC 15c3-3 on a weekly basis.
  • Heavily liaise with all external & internal audit counterparts. Responsible for efficiently driving audits to completion.
  • Analyze financial information with a key focus on control and compliance and addressing new requirements, including new reporting alongside accounting policy.
  • Participate in the implementation of significant analytical and reporting processes, procedures and systems using the Company's control framework.
  • Assist with the integration planning and implementation as part of the TD acquisition.

Job Requirements/Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting and 5-8+ year work experience preferred (Masters a plus but not required)
  • Working knowledge of broker-dealer regulatory environment is a must (SEC 15c3-3/SEC 15c3-1)
  • FINRA Series 27 preferred but not required and CPA /CFA a plus.
  • Organized, detail oriented and self-motivated individual with strong analytical skills
  • Highly proficient with Microsoft Excel.
  • Ability to work within deadlines while still providing a high-quality work product.

The expected base salary ranges from $110,000-$150,000. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, and, where applicable, licenses or certifications obtained. Market and organizational factors are also considered. In addition to salary and a generous employee benefits package, successful candidates are eligible to receive a discretionary bonus.
