The Los Angeles Brotherhood Crusade is a nonprofit, 501(c)(3) organization founded in 1968 to enrich the lives of youth, seniors, homeless populations, economically disadvantaged families, and under-served individuals in South Los Angeles by providing and facilitating a variety of essential educational services, social services, cultural activities, vocational opportunities and economic empowerment opportunities.

Summary
The Senior Vice President, Employment Readiness Services partners with the Senior Vice President, WorkForce Development to ensure that Brotherhood Crusade’s YouthSource Center operates at maximum effectiveness to achieve targeted goals, objectives, and desired outcomes requisite in achieving the mission of Brotherhood Crusade. The incumbent leads the development, implementation and evaluation of programs to help participants find employment. The Senior Vice President, Employment Readiness Services is a member of the Executive Team and provides leadership and direction to Employment Readiness staff, while guiding and ensuring proper implementation of the component program units that serve the needs of South Los Angeles and surrounding areas.

1. Create programs that help participants find jobs, including training, education, and job search skills.
2. Implement Employment Readiness programs including establishing goals and identifying training opportunities.
3. Assess the effectiveness of Employment Readiness programs and make improvements as necessary.
4. Make recommendations on improving outcomes and, working with the President and Chief Executive Officer to facilitate the improvement of programs based on the comprehensive assessment, existing research and evidence-based practices.
5. In conjunction with the President and Chief Executive Officer, review and pursue programmatic growth opportunities that align with Brotherhood Crusade’s mission, core values, and meet the needs of the organization’s constituencies.
6. Develop accountability systems and metrics to measure program performance, inform correction, facilitate continuous improvement, and promote sustainability.
7. Work collaboratively with program leaders and staff to strengthen their individual and team success through training, coaching, mentoring and professional development.
8. Under the direction and guidance of the President and Chief Executive Officer, lead, direct, and manage the work of all Employment Readiness staff to ensure program service delivery for all program participants.
9. In conjunction with the President and Chief Executive Officer and executive staff, identify new program service opportunities that align with Brotherhood Crusade’s mission and serve the needs of the community.
10. Actively lead and support the President and Chief Executive Officer in securing new and renewing existing program service contracts and funding partner agreements to ensure program growth, viability, and sustainability in order to meet the changing needs of the populations served by Brotherhood Crusade.
11. Prepare and present periodic reports on the performance, progress, and impact of Brotherhood Crusade Employment Readiness programs to the President and Chief Executive Officer; ensure that all mandatory contract reporting is completed and submitted on time; and address any program compliance issues in a timely manner.
12. Ensure that the Employment Readiness programs meet the outcomes and goals established by contract agreements and/or Brotherhood Crusade standards of excellence.
13. Manage a rigorous and continuous review of Brotherhood Crusade’s Employment Readiness programs (including participant and stakeholder surveys) to enhance effectiveness and efficiencies; make appropriate recommendations for program expansions, consolidations, and discontinuations.
14. Develop strong performance measures for program accountability and evaluation that are consistent across all programs and adhere to Brotherhood Crusade programmatic and organizational objectives.
15. Enhance program reporting mechanisms and systems that are data driven, outcome focused, and relevant.
16. Participate, conduct, and/or supervise the recruitment, selection, evaluation, and development of subordinate staff necessary to carry out Brotherhood Crusade’s mission, programs and objectives; provide guidance and direction to program directors and staff to ensure that progress is being achieved, objectives are being met, and program participants are being served effectively.
17. Ensure that all Employment Readiness staff understand and are connected to the overall goals and objectives of the department.
18. Implement a rigorous staff development and training program that focuses on building a team of highly skilled and effective team members who are equipped and empowered to lead and/or contribute to the work of the organization; create an environment that fosters staff feedback, inclusiveness, innovation and open dialogue, while incorporating performance evaluations and growth opportunities.
19. Provide one-on-one coaching for direct reports and assist them in developing strong management and leadership competencies.
20. Ensure performance reviews are conducted for all program staff; develop appropriate employee recognition programs including administering salary recommendations and establishing growth opportunities.
21. Counsel and discipline staff as needed verbally and written as well as implement performance improvement plans.
22. Develop and manage budgets to maintain the fiscal health of the Brotherhood Crusade Employment Readiness programs; make budget recommendations as needed; ensure the program is managed in a fiscally responsible manner; and bring any irregularities to the President and Chief Executive Officer’s attention immediately.
23. Stay informed regarding political and social issues that may impact the effectiveness of Brotherhood Crusade’s agenda.
24. Represent the Brotherhood Crusade, as required, in a way that promotes trust and reflects operational excellence in the social justice, social equity, trauma-responsive youth development and community development arenas.
25. Work collaboratively and strategically with other members of executive management to build a strong leadership team that embodies the mission and core values of Brotherhood Crusade.

QUALIFICATIONS
Education & Experience
5-8 years of managerial and supervisory experience.
5-8 years of government, corporate, social services, or social justice experience.
Experience in change management and learning and development.
Bachelor's degree from a four-year university required.
Master's degree preferred.

1. 2-4 years of trauma-responsive youth development and enrichment programs.
2. Principles and practices of social/human services program development and management.

4.Principles and practices of community-based transformation, capacity building, implementing, and measuring the effectiveness of intervention programs, governmental operations, and the utilization of project and program management techniques.

6.Knowledge of relevant state and federal laws, rules, and regulations.
7.Knowledge of non-profit financial contract/grant reporting requirements.
8.Strong advocacy and public policy development expertise.
9.Knowledge of budget development and management.
Fund development experience including grant solicitation, application management, and implementation.
10. Ability to work with and command the respect of a variety of stakeholders including program participants, government and corporate officials, community and political leaders, staff, volunteers and the media.
11. Possesses a valid driver's license and state-required auto insurance.
12. Required to travel once a week (less than 25% of the time).

WORKING CONDITIONS WHILE PERFORMING ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND EQUIPMENT USED
The successful candidate will be required to report to and work from the office complex at least five days a week. Offices are traditionally equipped with computers, telephones, desks, chairs, and office machines. Additionally, each office offers an instructional classroom from which orientations and trainings are conducted.
SALARY RANGE:
