The State of New Hampshire, Department of Health and Human Services, and New Hampshire Hospital has a part-time vacancy for a Building Cleaning Worker I-II.
Summary BCW I: To perform independent cleaning, custodial or janitorial duties associated with the care, cleaning, and maintenance of New Hampshire Hospital; may include assignment to multiple units, areas, or locations.
Summary BCW II: To serve as a team or crew lead, and/or shift point person and to independently provide a full range of cleaning, custodial or janitorial duties associated with the care, cleaning, and maintenance of New Hampshire Hospital; may include assignment to multiple units, areas or locations.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Building Cleaning Worker I
Education: Completion of eighth grade or its equivalent.
Experience: None required. Relevant work experience may be substituted for required formal education.
License/Certification: None required.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
For promotion from Building Cleaning Workers I, labor grade 8, to Building Cleaning Workers II, labor grade 10, employees:
1. Must have completed at least six months (full-time) or one year (part-time) of employment as a Building Cleaning Workers I
2. Must receive a satisfactory performance evaluation
3. Must be approved for promotion at the discretion of agency management to satisfy organizational/business needs
4. Must receive a recommendation for promotion to Building Cleaning Workers II by the immediate supervisor
Building Cleaning Worker II
Education: High school diploma or high school equivalency credential.
Experience: One year of relevant experience. Additional work experience may be substituted for required formal education.
License/Certification: None required.
RECOMMENDED WORK TRAITS: Knowledge of the methods and practices of cleaning services in a large complex, health facility, or building. Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. Knowledge of quality standards for health, environment and safety. Ability to read and write and to prepare both written and oral reports. Ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences. Ability to arrange things or actions in a certain order or pattern according to a specific rule or set of rules (e.g., patterns of numbers, letters, words, pictures, mathematical operations). Ability to see details at close range (within a few feet of the observer). Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships. Ability to tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong. Must be willing to maintain appearance appropriate to assigned duties and responsibilities as determined by the agency.
