Building Operations Employee - Facilities Management

As assigned by Supervisor or Work leader, perform all duties and responsibilities of the Building Operations Employee position with full responsibility for cleaning and maintaining assigned areas.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Assists in building preparation for events, such as field and court setup, setting stage, sound wings, hanging curtains, setting chairs, covering floor and other related tasks for these preparations. Set up VIP, Media & Caterers’ Room with equipment and supplies needed for all events in those areas.

Hangs and rolls banners and signs whenever and wherever needed for events. Cuts lawns, trims and edge around walks, flower beds and walls, prune shrubs and trees using hand and power equipment.

Rakes or sweeps grass and litter and remove same; removes snow and ice from walks, steps, driveways, etc. and apply salt if necessary in assigned areas.

Drives all vehicles assigned to Motor Pool and Grounds Department, perform all other tasks required as instructed by Supervisor or Work leader in order to have a successful event.

Performs general building maintenance and repair tasks as assigned.

Utilizes the university’s computerized maintenance management system.

Completes other duties as assigned.


REQUIREMENTS:


Minimum qualifications:

High School or Vocational School Diploma.

Good physical condition with stamina for working outdoors.

Valid Pennsylvania Driver’s License.

Alternately, the successful candidate may possess any equivalent combination of experience and training, which provides the knowledge, skills and abilities required to perform the essential job functions. This includes, but is not limited to, the following:

Truck driving experience with ability to operate manual and automatic shift vehicles up to and including two-ton capacity.

Ability to operate tow motor as needed in preparation and tear down of events.

Ability to lift 70 lbs. without help to remove flooring.

Ability to handle interior off-the-floor work, wall washing, heavy trash disposal, window washing and replacing light bulbs in assigned areas (incandescent or normal fluorescent lighting).

Ability to build and climb scaffolds.

Ability to climb ladders up to 40 feet in height.

Ability to operate equipment as needed to clean parking garages.

Ability to log on to a computer, open a document from the server, and update Excel spreadsheets.

Ability to work well with others.

Integrity and dependability.

Willingness and ability to follow instructions; handle related work as required; accept various assignments.

Attend one training session per year to enhance your qualifications.
