Bungalow is looking for a senior, experienced Controller unafraid to be hands-on, with proven experience working in Real Estate, a REIT, and/or property management. Reporting to the CFO, this person will be an essential member of the leadership team as well as interface externally with finance, banking, & fund partners.
What you’ll do:- Provide support, advice, and counsel to the Chief Financial Officer, management team, as well as to other senior executives within the Company on all financial and accounting activities.
- Oversee all accounts, ledgers, and reporting systems to ensure full compliance with GAAP, regulatory, and taxation requirements.
- Ensure integrity in the financial records, safeguarding of assets, and a strong internal control environment.
- Develop and maintain relationships with key business and functional leaders across the Company to ensure awareness of key business activities and performance trends as well as emerging opportunities and risks.
- Serve as the primary thought leader and resource regarding all complex accounting questions/issues including new contract/deal structures, new market expansion, and adoption of new accounting standards.
- Assist our strategic finance team with preparing materials for the Board.
- Serve as the primary liaison to external auditors and external constituents.
- Integrate the accounting operations of acquired companies, scaling our centralized accounting system
- Run monthly close process, maintaining current close timeline and efficiency
- Build a high-performing team with a focus on attracting, developing, and retaining top accounting talent that can scale with company growth.
Who you are:- You have best-in-class financial skills with at least 10 years of finance, accounting, or audit experience
- Deep technical accounting knowledge with strong analytical and accounting skills including a thorough understanding of complex revenue recognition standards
- Demonstrated ability to optimize organizations, processes, controls, and financial systems, working with a lean but talented team
- Exposure to various business models and complexity, ideally including experience integrating acquisitions
- You are a CPA, have 2+ years in property accounting, and 10+ years of overall experience
- You have experience working in Real Estate, a REIT, and/or property management.
- You are hands-on- unafraid to dig in and do individual contributor work
- Most importantly, you have an insatiable curiosity to learn fast - you do not need to check every box above day 1, but you do need to be able to “get there”
$150,000 - $190,000 a year
