As a Business Systems Analyst you are responsible for understanding the business objectives, soliciting business requirements, cataloging technical functionality and data processing, and updating project/process documentation. You are also responsible for conducting knowledge transfer of captured requirements to development teams and serve as the SME/Product Owner for assigned functional areas. You will assist our Federal Customer to define system scope and objectives based on user needs and help solve complex problems considering the existing application functionality, capacity, and limitations.

Program Mission…

The project you will be working is to modernize an existing legacy mainframe application to an AWS cloud based, serverless environment supporting forward leaning cloud architectures, reduce program sustainment costs, and increase system reliability. Our approach is to transform legacy applications to be cloud native and reside in a VPC as a Service (VPCaaS). Additionally, modernize current applications by breaking them down into loosely coupled micro-services, and leveraging a continuous integration / continuous delivery pipeline to enable an agile DevOps Strategy.

Requirements...

• Creates and captures Agile artifacts like epics and user stories within Jira and Confluence by working to translate technical requirements through coordination with the development team and Product Owner
• Analyzes business process flows to develop activity models and detailed requirements.
• Documents discussions during facilitated sessions to capture information.
• Facilitates requirements elicitation sessions and one-on-one interviews with all levels of personnel and all levels of technical understanding.
• Provides analytical expertise to capture stakeholder business needs, goals and objectives, and features and functions.
• Experience reviewing existing system documentation like DASDLs, Interface Control Documents, System Specification Documentation, and using that source to define new system requirements.

Desired Skills:

• Experience working in agile environments and is comfortable working closely with a variety of team members (Developers, Testers, Scrum Master, etc.)
• Effective communication skills that support requirements solicitation and accurate depiction of requirements in tracking systems like JIRA.
• Highly organized and detailed oriented.
• Ability to quickly adapt and understand existing program scope or assist the government with identification and documentation of intended scope where needed.
• Use analytical and critical thinking to translate the government’s requirements distinctly.
• Ability to understand and translate technical solutions as needed as this program is highly technical in nature.
• Understand and experience with common requirement capture techniques like process modeling, brainstorming, SWOT analysis, “The 5 Whys”, etc.
• UI/UX and user interface wireframing experience is a plus.
• Knowledge of the AWS Cloud and possess an AWS Cloud Practitioner certification is a plus.

Years of Experience: 5+ years of experience or more

Education: Bachelors Degree in Computer Science/Information Systems/ Engineering or related field.

Location: Reston, VA or Remote
