Overview:


HarperCollins Publishers has an exciting opportunity for a highly organized, solutions driven Business Analyst to join our Distribution Ops team. In this role, you will contribute on transformation projects across multiple functional and technical areas within book publishing.

You will bring with you prior experience as a Business Analyst in the fields of distribution, supply chain or logistics. Ideally, you will also have experience working in a remote/virtual team in a matrix with multiple reporting lines.

As part of this team, you will work with business stakeholders to establish requirements for the implementation of changes in business processes. You will lead and deliver the analysis, design, process flow, testing, and deployment in support of existing and new business process.
Responsibilities:
  • Integrates business, information, and technology architecture to create solutions for the relevant business capability areas and in some cases, cross capability areas.
  • Provides proactive analysis of business processes and identifies innovative ways to use technology and/or process change to address business needs which includes identifying these opportunities, reviewing and obtaining a decision from the appropriate business clients, assessing the fit of these opportunities into current initiatives, or including the opportunity in future demand.
  • Translates functional requirements into end-to-end analytical solution designs, ensuring solution aligns with business goals and supports a common application environment.
  • Collaborates with business leaders and BAs to make sure that solutions fit within enterprise context and aims for standardization of solutions across different business lines.
  • Focuses on identifying cost saving efficiencies, business growth, as well as connecting with partners and internal customers.
  • Contributes to the evaluation, design and selection of software product standards.
  • Supports senior leaders by managing metrics reporting, KPIs, as well performs data mining and big data analysis to provide strategic advice on business performance and forecast models.
  • Collects business use cases, researches and evaluates opportunities to help HarperCollins leverage its data to support business functions through mathematical modeling.
  • Utilizes database technologies and tools, including SQL, Hubble, Silvon and Tableau to efficiently evaluate business results and automate reporting.
  • Establishes scalable, efficient, automated processes for large scale data analyses.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Finance or equivalent educational and on the job experience
  • 5+ years of applied Business Analysis experience
  • Ability to provide subject matter expertise for analytical based processes
  • Solid leadership skills and exhibit creative thinking to be able to propose inventive solutions to solve business challenges.
  • Capable of consulting with resources from other disciplines and effective at working across multiple organizational boundaries
  • Proficiency using various software tools including SQL, Excel, Word, PowerPoint.
  • Experience developing automated reporting using advanced MS Excel skills including use and development of advances macros
  • Aptitude for business math and analysis; Excellent process mapping skills and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the preparation and delivery of Power Point presentations
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, cooperative team environment
  • Experience with Visio, Hubble, Silvon and Tableau a plus
  • JDE experience a plus
