We're Happy Scribe, a 100% bootstrapped and profitable startup based in Barcelona.

We offer transcription and subtitling services by combining AI with the expertise of language professionals to create a 5-star product. We're working on one of the fundamental problems of this decade: speech-to-text technology.

We're just 15 people at the moment, but growing fast and profitable (€4M ARR, 110% YoY growth) and we're building the team thoughtfully and with a lot of care.

About the role

We have ambitious goals and we’re looking for a Business Development Manager to help us achieve them. We want to reach €10M of ARR in 14 months, which implies growing at 9% MoM. Breaking into B2B will be the game changer: we’ve been working with multiple businesses and want to develop a sales department to proactively hunt these customers. We've just hit €3M ARR without a sales team. Imagine what this could look like with someone like you on board.

What you'll do

As a BDM at Happy Scribe you will be in charge of building a sales pipeline and all the processes that go with it. As one of our first sales employees, this position offers a lot of opportunities and room for growth.

You'll get to:

Shape the future of Happy Scribe’s Business Development.

Develop commercial acquisition strategy by:

Identify and research high-end sales targets.

Understand customer needs and buying cycles.

Help develop our enterprise/business offer by listening to prospects feedback.

Develop relationships with prospective clients while deepening your relationship with existing clients.

Generate your own pipeline (using inbound and outbound leads) and convert your prospects into customers.

What you'll bring

We are looking for exceptional individuals to join our team and believe that they can come from anywhere. Extensive CVs and endless cover letters don't impress us. Driven people that have skin in the game do.

3+ years of experience in B2B.

You're highly empathetic, curious and a great listener. You ask a lot of questions because you really want to get to the root of the problem and you care about solving it.

You’re product focused and love problem solving. You know how to listen to your clients and suggest and prioritise product improvements or new features based on their feedback and needs.

You're a team player. You know that success is a team effort and have a collaborative approach to achieving sales targets.

You have a strong entrepreneurial mindset. You like getting your hands dirty, jumping on cold calls and can creatively think of multi-channel strategies for attracting new clients.

You are fluent in English. Bonus points for any other language, especially French or German.
