Business Development Manager - Lateral Partner Integration

GENERAL SUMMARY:

Clifford Chance US LLP is seeking a full-time Business Development Manager – Lateral Partner Integration, to manage the strategy for integrating all lateral Partners and Counsel into the Firm's culture, processes, and business. This role will have a focus on strategic planning and business development.

This position can be located in either our New York, NY, or Washington, DC, offices and will report to the Director, Client and Market Development – Americas.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Act as a point of contact for new Lateral Partners and Counsel to assist them during their transition to Clifford Chance.
  • Support each lateral Partner and Counsel with their practice business and marketing plan, including outreach to existing and new Firm clients, identifying new targets and developing strategy.
  • Work closely with the Partner Recruiting Team, designated Sponsor Partner and Business Development team in the Americas and globally to ensure a smooth transition and integration for each new lateral Partner and Counsel.
  • Support the Recruiting team with the business development aspects of the hiring process such as research and analysis, input into the business case and nomination form, and contact mapping as appropriate.
  • Implement roadmaps and processes to ensure laterals are integrated consistently throughout the region and that they have the best possible chance of success by providing the required infrastructure and to further the ability to network for opportunities within the Firm.
  • Work closely with practice area Business Development and Communications colleagues on integration items such as: media releases and proactive media activity, biographies, client outreach and relationship management, cross-selling opportunities, and internal and external profile-raising opportunities including social media, speaking engagements, etc.
  • Facilitate connections across the network through various regions and practice areas, ensuring the lateral is looped into relevant client and sector teams, marketing campaigns, and thought leadership activity.
  • Assist with the planning of international travel to connect with peers and clients.
  • Work with each practice area leader to assess business development requirements and how these relate to the overall strategic plan.

REQUIREMENTS/PREFERENCES:
  • A Bachelor's degree is required; an MBA is a plus.
  • 5-8 years of relevant experience in business development & marketing in a law firm environment preferred.
  • A global mindset and perspective, combined with an in-depth knowledge of the US market.
  • A proficiency in connecting individuals, functions, and teams to ensure awareness and transparency in the integration process.
  • Ability to develop advisory relationships with partners, lawyers, and other key stakeholders by demonstrating:
o strong analytical skills and attention to detail;
o an energetic, proactive, and can-do attitude;
o solid research capabilities;
o ability to work independently and be highly organized;
o a consultative, collaborative approach;
o ability to work under pressure, multitask, and prioritize competing demands;
o an understanding of our clients' commercial objectives and marketplace;
o ability to use technologies critical to the position; and
o excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to contribute to the growth and development of our BD team by:
o collaborating with colleagues at all levels and across global offices;
o demonstrating teamwork; and
o identifying opportunities to develop new processes orimprove infrastructure
  • Must possess strong technical proficiency in various software including Microsoft Office.
  • Must be independently and legally authorized to work in the United States.

Clifford Chance US LLP offers a comprehensive benefits and compensation package. The salary range for this role is $160,000 to $175,000. The actual salary will be commensurate with the candidate's qualifications and relevant experience.
