About the Role
The Database Administrator (DBA) will work closely with the Engineering, Architecture, and Operations teams building and supporting our mission-critical database systems as Business Wire undertakes a digital transformation journey. As a member of the DBA team, you will be responsible for defining and supporting new and existing database systems across public cloud and traditional data centers. You will also help guide best practices in database administration, data high availability, database management, database design, process improvement, requirements analysis, and the introduction of innovation with a focus on automation.
What You'll Do- Manage the full database lifecycle to include initial installation and configuration of database technologies, deployment of engineered system design solutions, daily operations, administration, upgrades, and management of database technologies.
- Provide high-end technical DBA support within a variety of Operating Environments (OE) while also supporting/assisting software development and operational teams with database definition, structure, long-range requirements, operational guidelines, and security/integrity controls according to industry best practices.
- Propose and implement enhancements to improve performance and reliability within the supported IT environments.
- Provide subject matter expertise in performance tuning and database administration.
- Independently analyze, solve, and correct issues in real time, providing problem resolution.
- Work closely with L1/L2/L3 support teams to proactively identify and resolve issues.
- Participate in 24x7 on-call rotation.
What You'll Need- Must have the ability to work a typical day of 9am to 5pm Pacific.
- 5+ years of hands-on MongoDB, Oracle, and MySQL database experience in a mission critical 24x7 environment.
- 2+ years of AWS experience.
- Adept at analyzing and tuning SQL.
- Experience with full database lifecycle management including upgrades, patching, cloning, backups, and recovery.
- Experience with automated database deployment using Jenkins, Ansible, or similar tools.
- Strong understanding of Unix operating systems.
- Experience working in an Agile/Scrum environment with an understanding of ITIL.
Pluses
- Experience designing and supporting a hyper-scale mission critical database architecture.
- 2+ years proficiency in writing, profiling, and optimizing SQL queries for performance.
- Understanding of data warehouses, data marts, data lakes, modeling, and profiling.

What We Offer
The base salary range for this position is $88K to $110K/year. Offered salary will be determined by several factors, including but not limited to: applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with geographic market data. Business Wire reserves the right to modify this salary range at any time.
