Title: Business/ Quality Assurance Analyst
Locations: Des Moines, IA
What you can expect in the Business/Quality Assurance Analyst role:
Responsible for gathering requirements including requirements gaps for large scope projects with budgets up to $500,000 for customer-facing, business critical enterprise applications. Work on a collaborative team, using Agile principals and supporting continuous integration/delivery. Investigate business facing systems to identify options to implement enhancements that meet business and IT needs. Project work often involves a high level of business risk impacting multiple departments and requires sound independent judgment and decision making skills.
Specific skills include:
- Develop business analysis plans, estimates, and communication plans.
- Use collaboration and investigative work to analyze process and system current state using techniques such as dataflow diagrams, functional decomposition, interviews, and analysis of metrics/KPIs.
- Work closely with business partners/product owners at all levels in the organization to:
- Proactively define business requirements
- Define Acceptance criteria
- Complete backlog grooming
- Create use cases
- Create user stories, epics, and themes
- Act as a subject matter expert and mentor to less experienced Business Analysts
- Facilitate structured process improvement events (example – Value Stream Mapping)
- Manage project scope and risks by recommending and negotiating solutions and effectively communicating with the project team
- Choose appropriate requirements facilitation approach based on the business and the project (i.e. brainstorming, workshops, focus groups, and interviews)
- Collaborate within agile teams to ensure understanding of requirements and how they map to the technical design.
- Scrum/Kanban/Lean experience working on a multifunctional Agile team
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business or related field with 6 – 10 years of appropriate work experience.
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills with the ability to communicate with business partners, business leaders, and IT staff
- Strong analytical, questioning, and listening skills with the ability to identify organizational impact including gaps
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently under deadline pressures
- Solid problem solving, decision making, process thinking, and organization skills
- Ability to work on large scale strategic initiatives that cross business units and meet established deadlines
- Previous experience working on an agile team.
- Able to effectively direct and coordinate the work of other team members on a project without having HR management responsibility for them
- Proven knowledge of Business Analysis and process improvement (IIBA preferred)
