Cafeteria Aide at Stony Brook Hospital
The highly regarded Market Place Café serves employees and visitors of the hospital breakfast, lunch and dinner, seven days a week. Our customers can choose from restaurant quality entrees, fresh hand-packed burgers, our gourmet brick oven pizza, Sushi and many other options.
Cafeteria Aides perform a variety of services that may include the basic food preparation, serving customers on our tray line, and ensuring that the Café is fully stocked.
Salary: $19.26 to start. Effective 10/1/22 increase to $20.11. After one year, $21.11. Contractual increases thereafter.
1199 Union Position: Cafeteria Aides are employees of the Faculty Student Association. Health and retirement benefits are provided by the 1199 Union after completion of the probationary period.
Responsibilities:
· Accurately portion and serve food for customers.
· Restock shelves and refrigerated foods.
· Maintain necessary supplies to ensure efficiency of the Café operation.
· Safely transport garbage, and recyclable material to assigned areas.
· Transport food carts and equipment in a safe manner.
· Date, label and rotate stock in accordance with procedural priorities.
· Complete food temperature control logs as per established protocol.
· Safely operate and clean equipment according to departmental procedures.
· Other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
· Must fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
· Ability to read, write and follow basic instructions in English.
· High Diploma or equivalent is preferred
Requirements:
Hours: Cafeteria Aides will work from 4:00 PM to 9:00. Employees must also be available to work both Saturday and Sunday and holidays.
· On a regular basis, Cafeteria Aides move objects weighing up to 50 pounds and push objects weighing up to 100 pounds.
