POLITICO is seeking an ambitious and creative reporter to anchor a new POLITICO newsletter on the politics and policy surrounding climate change in California, as part of our expansion in the nation’s largest state – a state where the climate story is playing out at a more rapid pace than anywhere else in America.
California’s ambitious clean-energy goals inspired copycat laws across the globe and forced the automotive industry to accelerate its transition to electric vehicles. Its raging wildfires and housing sprawl threaten to create the costliest natural disaster in American history. Access to water drives politics and business like few other places, and efforts to expand wind, solar and geothermal power generation are running head-on into capacity issues that may affect tens of millions of people. We want a journalist who can dig into that story for our influential California audience, and narrate the conversation among California power players, policymakers, executives, environmentalists and more.
This reporter will work with our talented policy and political reporters across the state, and look at the intersections across sectors of the economy and policymaking landscape, from technology to water to labor.
