Reports to: Donor Engagement Manager
Classification: Exempt
Location: Evanston, IL
This position is designated as Hybrid - Fully Flexible and expected to work from our World Headquarters office once per month to several times a week. The specific days in the office are determined by managers based on business requirements. Rotary is under the jurisdiction of Illinois employment laws; we require all employees to live within reasonable daily commuting distance to Evanston.

Overview
This position supports the Donor Engagement team, responsible for strategically developing and distributing global philanthropic communications in support of Foundation initiatives. You will serve as a primary philanthropic contact for time-bound or spontaneous initiatives such as appeals from The Rotary Foundation to supporters for specific campaigns including polio-eradication, developing fundraising communications for crises or disasters as-yet unknown, and engaging with younger members to develop a culture of philanthropy among Rotaract.
You will have the opportunity to cultivate engagement and charitable contributions from Rotary members, participants and the general public around the world. Donor engagement efforts are primarily directed to segmented current and prospective donor groups around the world, the global Rotary volunteer structure, and Rotary members and supporters at large. This position will also contribute to more general fundraising strategies undertaken by the Donor Engagement Team.
Your contribution will assist The Rotary Foundation in meeting annual financial goals through engaging, philanthropic communications that ultimately empower Rotarians to keep Doing Good in the World.
You Will Have
  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent)
  • 3 years’ experience in non-profit fund development
  • 2 years’ experience in philanthropic communications, preferably focusing on crisis and campaign communications
  • Advanced experience with Microsoft Office software and donor base management platforms including Raiser’s Edge, PeopleSoft, NetFORUM, Business Intelligence, and a mass email platform such as Adestra. Social media knowledge is required.
  • Ability to create dynamic presentations, webinars, user guides, etc. as needed to help promote targeted campaigns and engage key constituents internally and externally Soft skills
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communications skills; committed to providing professional, high quality customer service to donors and volunteers at all levels.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment and able to function well under pressure to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Comfortable with qualitative and quantitative evaluation, data manipulation, analysis and communicating statistical information in a clear and concise way.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle multiple tasks, identify areas for improvement and exceed goals in a timely fashion

You Will Be Responsible For
Creating philanthropic communications for time-bound or specific fundraising initiatives such as:
  • Polio eradication days or initiatives:
    • develop and distribute interesting, informative resources for volunteers to prepare for and support World Polio Day held annually on 24 October
    • promote, administer and report on PolioPlus contributions made in honor of the annual Ride to End Polio (November annually)
  • Disaster Response
    • Solicit, promote and steward donors world-wide who respond to specific appeals for disaster response fundraising
  • Rotaract
    • Solicit and steward our newest membership segment to raise funds and awareness of The Rotary Foundation.
    • Manage Rotaract Giving certificate.
Manage and grow innovative Rotary giving vehicles/platforms
  • Assist in strategy development and execution for fundraising platforms like Raise for Rotary and in potential for impact reporting through Rotary channels and platforms
  • Create and distribute individual outreach communications for people fundraising on behalf of The Rotary Foundation
Assist Donor Engagement Manager in developing communication strategies
  • Lead the development and execution of mass “crisis” communications to alert large groups in the event of unexpected major developments/announcements/news etc. related to polio eradication or disaster fundraising
  • Use data and best practices to create successful, targeted, and international philanthropic communication strategies
  • Assist in presenting data to external teams to promote our business case and foster increased collaboration
  • Act as back-up for Donor Engagement Manager and Donor Engagement Officer to ensure smooth operations of Donor Engagement Team during absences
Perform analysis of completed communications
  • Review results of each communication campaign and perform a thorough analysis of its results including both financial and engagement performance to inform future versions
  • Track results in team communications calendar
  • Must be able identify key data trends and use data visualization techniques to present communication results to key stakeholder
