ABOUT THE ROLE

The Director, Business and People Partnerships at CannonDesign is a strategic liaison between HR and the business.  You will use your experience to help HR, and our leadership create a thriving firm that supports our living centered design ethos while also achieving our growth and strategic objectives.  You will help to align our people and business strategy.  You will support the leaders with their plans of how best to meet the firm’s objectives.  You will be a part of our Human Resources team and will support multiple offices, business units, and/or enterprise groups.  Your most important contribution will be partnering with leadership as a trusted advisor to drive expanded capabilities from a talent, leadership and organizational perspective. It's the guiding force that shapes who we are and what we create.You act as an internal partner, aligning HR practices with business goals while acting as an employee advocate.

WHAT YOU WILL DO
  • Partner with leaders to implement effective HR programs and practices that support our “People Are Everything” ethos and drive the strategic growth of the business.
  • Provide guidance, input, and support to leadership on critical processes like business unit restructuring, business planning, organizational design, change management, workforce planning, performance calibration, and succession planning.
  • Analyze trends and metrics in partnership with the Business leaders and HR COEs (Centers of Excellence) to develop solutions, programs, and policies.  Ensure that your HR COE partners are in tune with the most current business needs and experience of their programs.
  • Conceptualize, lead and participate in projects within HR and within the business that further our people are everything objectives from a talent, leadership and/or organizational perspective.
  • Work closely with management and employees to improve work relationships, build morale, and increase engagement and retention.  In partnership with our Talent team and senior leaders, provide coaching and guidance to our people managers to continuously improve their ability to most effectively work with their teams.
  • Ensure that we are providing meaningful analytics to the business that supports their ability to meet customer needs and demands and helps to drive employee engagement.
  • Identify training needs for business units and leadership coaching needs. 
  • Participate in evaluation and monitoring of training programs to ensure success and follow up to ensure training objectives are met.  Participate in the delivery of some critical training programs.
  • Provide HR policy interpretation and guidance to line management in concert with our employee relations manager for key elements e.g. coaching, counseling, career development, disciplinary actions, compensation, promotions, transfers etc.
  • Manage and resolve complex employee relations issues working as appropriate with the employee relations manager.
  • Other duties as required.

 ABOUT YOUR QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field is required. Certification in HR is preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience in business preferably working across the organization and partnering with the organization on enterprise-wide solutions.
  • Strong problem-solving ability. Can recognize and prioritize opportunities to improve the organization’s performance and create a more inclusive and supportive environment for all employees.
  • Ability to influence others to assist in mediating conflicts, facilitating negotiations, championing firmwide initiatives, and leading others through change.
  • Working knowledge of multiple human resource disciplines, including compensation practices, organizational diagnosis, employee and union relations, diversity, performance management, and respective federal and state employment laws.
  • Strong business acumen and ability to work effectively with individuals at all levels. Experience working with and coaching senior leaders on complex business and functional issues.
  • Experience in working effectively in a multi-location, matrixed environment is essential.
  • Ability to acquire a thorough understanding of the organization's hierarchy, jobs, qualifications, compensation practices, and the administrative practices related to those factors.
  • Ability to comprehend, interpret, and apply the appropriate sections of applicable laws, guidelines, regulations, and policies.
  • Professional acumen and maturity demonstrated by the ability to communicate authentically and respectfully.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and HR related software tools/ systems.
  • Travel required.
  • Excellent communication skills, interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail and a proven ability to meet timelines.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
The salary range for this position is $129,960.00 to $162,450.00 annually.   This salary range is the range we believe is the anticipated range of possible base compensation at the timing of the posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the anticipated salary range for the position. Employees may be eligible for discretionary bonuses. We offer a full benefit package including medical, dental and vision coverage and flexible spending account options and voluntary insurances. We have paid time off, flex-time summer hours, remote work options and a 401k plan and employee perk programs.
