Senior Product Designer

About the role

Join our design team at Capintel as a Senior Product Designer, where we believe collaboration fuels innovation and autonomy empowers ownership. So, we value a balance of teamwork and individual ownership to create the best possible user experiences. 

Working closely with cross-functional teams, including product managers, engineers, and other designers, you will drive the end-to-end design process from concept to execution, turning complexity into intuitive, usable and visually compelling experiences that align with user needs and business objectives 

Your expertise will be crucial in improving our existing product and designing new features that move the needle towards our vision by incremental steps.  

What you'll do

  • Collaborate as a strategic partner to product management and engineering to identify product requirements and scope, user stories, and design specifications. 
  • Create wireframes, user flows, prototypes, and high-fidelity mockups to effectively communicate design concepts and interactions. 
  • Conduct user research, usability testing, and feedback sessions to gather insights and validate design decisions. 
  • Iterate on designs based on feedback, user testing results, and analytics data to continuously improve product experiences. 
  • Mentor and support junior designers, providing guidance on design principles, best practices, and professional development. 
  • Champion a user-centric design approach throughout the organization, advocating for the needs and preferences of our users.

Qualifications

  • 2-3 Case studies that showcase your digital product design work and how you solve problems 
  • Proven experience conducting user research, such as interviews, surveys, usability testing, contextual inquiries, and creating user personas, journey maps, and user flow diagrams 
  • Experience working and partnering with Product Managers and other Product Designers, using a design process and customer insights to create tangible improvements in the user experience 
  • Ability to work within and extend a design system. Experience establishing the foundations of a design system and/or product redesigns is a plus. 
  • Demonstrated proficiency in maintaining UI consistency by effectively collaborating with designers, product managers, engineers, and executives through clear visual presentations and written communication 
  • Expertise using Figma and other design-related software 

Bonus experience

  • Familiarity with fundamental web technologies, including CSS and HTML. 
  • Familiarity with Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) and ARIA (Accessible Rich Internet Applications) attributes to effectively collaborate with developers for implementing accessible designs.

Remote first work: We’re a Canadian based, remote-first environment, with in-office collaboration zones and individual workspaces in Gatineau, QC or Halifax, NS and hubs of virtual employees in Southwestern Ontario).
