Responsibilities

• As our first software engineer focused solely on data, you will lay the foundation for Captions' decision-making ability by building and implementing essential data processes, pipelines, systems, and infrastructure.

• Define our data engineering stack through data modeling and developing our ETL pipelines, data warehouse, schemas, and data storage solutions from the ground up.

• Design, build, and maintain our analytics data warehouse to provide clean, accurate, and robust data sets to be leveraged by data science, analytics, and business intelligence.

• Partner closely with data scientists to build scalable data processing solutions that deliver high-quality data and analytics.

• Develop best practices for governance of data sets with sensitive information.

Preferred Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional experience developing and scaling sophisticated data ecosystems, ideally for data science or decision science teams.

• Familiar with technologies like BigQuery, Airflow, Fivetran, Snowflake, DBT (or related), and a strong background in distributed data processing, data modeling, and software engineering of data services.

• Advanced knowledge and hands-on experience with data architecture, data warehouse design and implementation, modern cloud technologies, and building high-performance data pipelines.

• Strong understanding of Computer Science fundamentals (algorithms and data structures).
