Software Engineer (Core Platform)

As we build out our industry-leading platform, we are looking for exceptional API and integration engineers. If you love getting the names of API endpoints right; if you obsess over stateful and stateless connections; and if you truly believe that design principles like abstraction, loose coupling, and DRY make better code; then you might be the engineer we are looking for.

Join us at Carbon6 as a key player in the evolution of our industry-leading merchant tools and technologies. You’ll play a key role designing and implementing essential central services enabling smooth operation of our customer-facing and back-office systems. You’ll connect to first- and third-party systems using a variety of languages and technologies, work closely to define and evolve our internal APIs, and be a core part of the team that builds out our developer ecosystem.

• Integration Development & Scalability: Design, build, test, and ship critical integration services providing connectivity to our multiple applications with a focus on quality, efficiency, and scalability.
• Collaboration & Communication: Collaborate closely with peers, product teams, and stakeholders to refine requirements and elevate product outcomes. 
• Quality Advocacy & Robust Architecture: Champion clean, test-driven code, and ensure system architecture including APIs, deployments, and dependency selection—is robust and scalable.
• Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate closely with peers, product teams, and stakeholders to refine requirements, ensuring clarity and alignment, while driving enhanced product outcomes.
• Drive Improvements: Contribute to team and company success by voicing and driving opportunities for improvements.

• Proven Experience: 4+ years of professional software engineering experience building features end-to-end.
• Technical Proficiency: 2+ years of experience developing applications with Node.js using JavaScript or TypeScript, and expertise in major front-end frameworks like React, Angular, or Vue, along with knowledge of relevant best practices.
• System Architecture Excellence: Experience with GoLang, API design, and design patterns is a major plus; you’ll be asked about all of these throughout our interview process.
• Ownership & Continuous Improvement: A strong sense of ownership and curiosity to understand problems in depth, proactive in seeking feedback and opportunities for improvement.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Foster a collaborative environment where teams from various functions work together seamlessly to achieve common goals and creatively solve problems.
• Adaptability: You thrive in dynamic environments, quickly adjusting to change while introducing structure when needed. You're self-driven, proactive, and take ownership of your work, completing projects autonomously and maintaining flexibility and effectiveness.
