UCI CARE provides free and confidential support services to members of the UCI community who have been impacted by sexual assault, relationship abuse, family violence and/or stalking. Programs and services are available to people of all identities and regardless of status. UCI CARE aims to end these forms of power-based personal violence by engaging the campus community in education, programming, and transformative action.
Typically works on highly complex issues with survivors of sexual violence, assault, stalking or domestic violence. Situations generally require decisions on matters that may be unique, complex, without precedent or may require quick thinking. Able to formulate strategies to best serve the survivor's interests in immediate and long-term resolution of their situation. Leads other staff in developing effective outreach campaigns.

$71,300.00 - $100,000.00 (Annual Salary) Expected Pay Range within the Full Salary Range $59,623.00 - $128,700.00 (Annual Salary).

Required:
3+ years’ experience working with survivors of power based personal violence.
Bachelor's degree in social work, counseling or related field. Is a qualified psychotherapist under the California evidence code; or has one year of counseling experience with six months rape crisis experience; or has a Master's degree in counseling.
California Certification for Sexual Assault Crisis Counselor Training. California Certification for Domestic Violence Advocates.
Demonstrated knowledge, experience, and ability working with individuals who have experienced a sexual or domestic violence issue, including stalking. Demonstrated ability and knowledge of how to effectively provide crisis intervention to those affected by power-based personal violence. Demonstrated ability to handle difficult decisions when university policy is ambiguous, especially where there is latitude for usage of judgment or the client's reaction to advocacy methods may be less predictable. Demonstrated ability to effectively use independent judgment and make professional decisions and recommendations in situations that require highly individualized planning in effectively advocating for the survivor. Demonstrated ability to work with people of various ethnic, cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds, sexual orientation and gender identities. Exercises mature professional judgment and the flexible use of a wide range of advocacy skills. Advanced skills and experience in assessing levels of emotional distress and reacting appropriately. Strong ability to work effectively within and outside of the university system in developing relationships and programs to address programmatic issues and needs. Knowledge of vicarious trauma and how it surfaces when working with survivors and demonstrated skills to reduce the effects of burn out.
Preferred:
Experience in speaking in front of diverse audiences and the ability to adapt materials quickly so that the audience can understand the concepts being presented. In depth experience with computer programs used in the university such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, case tracking systems and other key programs necessary to perform the requirements of the position.
Special Conditions Required:
Must be able to provide services, advocacy and crisis intervention during nonbusiness hours as appropriate. Able to maintain confidentiality within the bounds of applicable laws and regulations. Must pass a background fingerprint screening.
