Broad Street, Richmond, Virginia, 23220CarMax, the way your career should be!As a Product Design Intern at CarMax, you will be responsible for translating complex consumer and business needs into simple, seamless and desirable customer experiences. Throughout the duration of the Internship program, you will have the support of a mentor and be a critical part of a x-functional product team, leveraging Lean UX tools and techniques to gather customer insight, translate learnings into hypotheses and create testable prototypes. In other words, you will be doing the everyday work of a product designer and have the benefit of a real working knowledge of product design tools and techniques, as well as product team rituals, roles and culture.Essential Duties And Responsibilities• Create intuitive and elegant product design solutions that solve complex consumer problems and drive business results• Communicate solutions to your product team in a manner that simplifies complexity and generates excitement• Participate in user experience research to understand consumer needs, opportunities and pain points to continually inform an iterative design and discovery process• Collect and synthesize qualitative and quantitative research to inform and validate design decisions• Create visual artifacts to articulate, inform and validate ideas with consumers and stakeholders (prototypes, wireframes, sketches, journey maps, personas, etc.)• Collaborate and partner with Product Managers, Designers, Analysts and Developers throughout the discovery, design and development processQualifications• Understand how to ideate and design product experiences for a range of customer contexts and canvas sizes• Passion for technology and design, and the drive to stay on top of industry trends and best practices• Persuasive communicator – able to explain complex or intangible concepts to stakeholders at all levels• Good listener – weighs input from multiple perspectives when forming opinions and recommendations• Collaborative and team oriented work approach• Ability to convert ideas quickly into design artifacts• Strong critical thinking and analysis skills• Experience with and/or exposure to Lean UX methods and Agile development processes a plusEducation/Experience• BA/BS degree with a focus in product or a UX Design Related Certificate Program preferred, experience and/or visual design• Portfolio or work samples showcasing design methods, creativity, and depth of thought coupled with fluency in best practices for UX Design, Visual Design, Prototyping and Front End DevelopmentApplicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.Upon an applicant's request, CarMax will consider reasonable accommodation to complete the CarMax Job Application.
